Excitingly, fans will soon witness a battle between Invincible and Conquest in Season 3 Episode 8! However, those who can’t bear the wait can unveil the outcome early by reading about it in the comics.
Last week’s episode of Invincible was, according to its creator Robert Kirkman, one of the most impressive the series has ever produced. It almost perfectly translated the Invincible War storyline onto the screen.
In the heart-pounding finale, the long-awaited arrival of a chilling adversary unfolded – Conquest, the Viltrumite soldier that Anissa had cautioned me about in Season 2. “All I want to do now is unleash my fury,” I muttered, as we squared off for what would be an intense battle. And so, the fight commenced.
In Season 3 Episode 8, it will play out with its violent and devastating spectacle; however, an alternative scenario also presents itself.
How to find the Invincible vs Conquest comics
Unbeatable engages in the battle of concerns spanning issues 61 to 64. You can locate each one separately, and they’re all compiled within:
- Invincible: Compendium Two
- Invincible – Still Standing (Vol. 12 of the trade paperbacks)
- Vol. 6 of the Invincible Ultimate Collection hardcovers
- Vol. 3 of The Complete Invincible Library
You might want to begin by checking out Issue #60. It details the Invincible War, but with a few minor alterations, and it sets the stage for Issue #61. The story concludes with Conquest making an appearance and telling Mark, “Prepare yourself for my arrival, vermin.
In addition, the conversation from Episode 7 is further developed, as Mark communicates to Conquest: “Perhaps you’re not aware. Everything you see destroyed here, it’s due to my actions. The lives that have been lost are a direct consequence of what I’ve done. I can hardly find words for the guilt, shame, and, above all, the rage that engulfs me at this moment.
Ever since everything unfolded, there’s been one persistent desire burning within me – a longing to strike something with all my might.
You might find it surprisingly simple to read the Invincible comics without spending money right away, as there are free options available. So, you can hold off on purchasing the compendiums for now.
What happens in the Invincible vs Conquest fight?
As a dedicated gamer, I’d say it feels like in the comics, when I’m faced with my final boss (Conquest), I deliver a crushing headbutt that’s as lethal as any boss-killing move in a game. In our epic battle, I manage to break not one, but both his hands – left and right – leaving him powerless. The final blow, you might say, was the game over for Conquest.
Right from Issue #62, chaos ensues as they engage in fierce combat; structures crumble, a warship is destroyed, and the wounds sustained by both parties during the fight are severe and disheartening. Typically reserved, Mark refrains from joining in, allowing Conquest to toy with him for a while… until Oliver steps in.
In a threatening tone, he asks Oliver, “Who are you? I’d appreciate knowing who I’m about to harm,” provoking Mark’s anger. However, it’s not enough to intimidate him. “Child,” Conquest replies, “if that’s the best you can muster, this situation won’t end favorably for you.
In another location, Cecil urges D.A. Sinclair to expedite his current project – transforming the lifeless Invincible versions into ReAnimen. However, there’s a hitch: the toughness of their skin is causing delays in preparation, taking longer than anticipated. “Well, then good luck to us all,” Cecil laments.
In Issue #63, Conquest seizes Oliver once more and attempts to split him in two by exerting such immense force that his body rips apart at the torso. Yet again, Mark’s rage fuels him to endure the agony, enabling him to rescue Oliver, thus providing Cecil with the opportunity to teleport him to safety.
In the hospital, Eve regains consciousness only to swiftly spring into action for Mark’s aid. However, as Conquest puts it, this isn’t good news for her: he injures Mark by fracturing his leg, placing Eve in a precarious position as she fights against him. She attempts to confine him within a protective barrier, but he shatters free from it in an instant and plunges his entire arm through her form.
In a different phrasing: Mark manages to grab her, but she looks as if she’s about to escape from his grasp. “It doesn’t matter how powerful or swift you are,” Mark says, signaling the climax of their battle, “I can foresee what’s coming… You won’t make it through the next day.
In Issue #61’s fashion, they clash once more, yet this time, Mark shatters Conquest’s gauntlet using his fist (leaving his hand bruised). “Being angry doesn’t make you stronger; it doesn’t function that way,” Conquest cautions, until Mark bites off a chunk of his shoulder with his teeth.
On the earth, Eve’s form begins to radiate light. As witnessed in the Atom Eve special, she manages to get past her mental barriers to heal her wounds and transform into a deadly weapon. She unleashes a burst of pink energy at Conquest, causing such severe burns that his red skin is laid bare. “This time, I’ll ensure your demise,” Conquest swears.
Mark becomes enraged. Despite Conquest fracturing his other hand, Mark manages to subdue him by ramming his head repeatedly into Conquest’s face until it’s covered in blood. It seems as though Conquest has died, and Mark makes his way over to Eve. Both of them are still breathing (though Mark is in much worse condition). As they rest together, Cecil appears with a group of superheroes.
Be sure to stay informed about when Episode 8 will be released as part of Invincible Season 3, along with its release time and schedule. In the meantime, delve into why Mark’s blue suit holds such significance, uncover what befell Powerplex, and explore Darkwing II’s destiny in the comic books.
As a die-hard gamer, I recently got the chance to chat with the legendary Robert Kirkman himself! He filled me in on why we didn’t see Spawn join the fray during Invincible War and hinted that a Rex Splode special might be a bit further down the line.
