Internet Sleuths Think Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong 64, And More Are Headed To Nintendo Switch Online

Once again, Nintendo enthusiasts are delving into investigations online! In late May, Nintendo shared a concise video showcasing upcoming features for Nintendo Switch Online‘s Nintendo 64 services – such as a CRT filter, rewind feature, and additional updates. Yet, this clip might have held more information than initially perceived, and a band of determined internet detectives believe they’ve unraveled the secret code – potentially hinting at new games soon to be added to the NSO N64 service.

A team of enthusiasts spearheaded by vtuber Imakuni have been examining the fuzzy images from the 40-second point in the video below, using techniques to clarify these images and comparing them with classic N64 cover art. They believe they’ve discovered five Nintendo 64 games that are not yet available on the Nintendo Switch Online service, but may be added soon.

The five games the group thinks they’ve discovered are as follows:

  • Donkey Kong 64
  • Forsaken 64
  • Glover
  • Rayman 2: The Great Escape
  • Super Smash Bros.

In another post by user Betonoguau, they share the group’s possible finding in video format, featuring the original Nintendo video combined with the suspected cover arts as overlays.

So far in 2025, the Nintendo 64 section of the Nintendo Switch Online library has experienced just two additions. On January 31, Ridge Racer 64 was added to the service, followed by Killer Instinct Gold on May 16.

Simultaneously, a fresh lineup of NSO titles debuted with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, allowing GameCube games to be played on this new platform. Initially, just four GameCube games are playable: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur II, F-Zero GX, and Super Mario Strikers. However, additional titles such as Super Mario Sunshine, Chibi-Robo, and others will be added to the service at a later time.
