As a longtime observer of Caroline Calloway‘s public life, I find myself deeply troubled by her recent decision to stay put during Hurricane Milton. While it’s understandable that past experiences have left emotional scars and created apprehension about evacuating, the safety of herself and her pet should be paramount.
As a devotee, I find myself at the center of a storm (pun intended) over an influencer who’s facing criticism following their viral post about not evacuating during Hurricane Milton.
Caroline Calloway, both an influencer and an author, is taking shelter at her residence in Sarasota as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida’s Gulf Coast, due to make landfall on Wednesday, the 9th of October.
Ahead of the Category 5 storm, Calloway shared a video explaining that she couldn’t leave because she can’t drive.
“I’m going to die,” she said. “It’s zone-a, mandatory evacuation.”
“I want you to know that I didn’t leave town. I’m not able to drive, and unfortunately, the airport is shut down. Additionally, when there’s a Hurricane, I usually go to my mom’s house in Northport.
As a gamer, I’ve been through a tough level recently. My whole neighborhood turned into a watery maze due to flooding, and we were forced out after three days without electricity, food, or even running water. It was an incredibly harrowing experience. I’m not keen on hitting the restart button at my mom’s place because the last time I did, it was a nightmare of epic proportions.
Additionally, Calloway shared a picture on her Instagram story, taken indoors within her house, mere steps from the shoreline. She admitted, “I must admit, it’s a bit worrying that I reside so close to the beach.
Following the news of her choice not to evacuate spreading widely online, numerous social media users, particularly those concerned about her pet’s safety, voiced their criticism on platforms like Twitter.
As a devoted follower, I mused that Caroline Calloway remaining stubbornly within a compulsory evacuation zone, smack dab on the waterfront where the hurricane is set to strike, could serve as an uncannily fitting finale to her intriguing storyline.
He doesn’t care for her personally, but he’s concerned about her cat. He wonders why she didn’t escape solely to save the cat from the dangerous situation.
“At least her lips will work as a lifeboat if she needs one!” exclaimed a third.
It could be rephrased as: It’s quite fitting that Caroline Calloway chose to stay in a compulsory evacuation area, near the water where a hurricane is likely to hit, given how it would make for an ideal conclusion to her story.

Calloway’s hate from netizens dates back to 2018 when she hosted a “creativity workshop” in New York. Attendees complained, saying the experience wasn’t what she promised. She then canceled the remaining workshops and refunded the tickets.
2020 saw Calloway encounter increased criticism following claims by her former business partner and ghostwriter, Natalie Beach, who asserted that Calloway had left her without shelter.
Afterward, she removed some posts from her Instagram, but re-emerged on social platforms in 2022 by creating a TikTok account and sharing a five-part narrative that highlights different phases of her life.
