Infamous Studio Boss Wants To Bring Back The Franchise

In 2009, the game Infamous by Sucker Punch offered players an experience of life with superpowers beyond the typical comic book narrative. Since then, no new games in the series have been released, except for Infamous: Second Son in 2014. However, Nate Fox, who directed all three games in the franchise, expresses a desire to return to that world again. Unfortunately, Sucker Punch is currently occupied with Ghost of Yotei, the upcoming sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, and won’t be able to revisit the Infamous series anytime soon.

As a passionate admirer, I can’t help but express my desire to delve deeper into the world of Infamous. If given the opportunity, I would truly cherish working on another installment. However, I understand that Sucker Punch is a studio that takes each project one at a time, and at the moment, their focus is solely on completing Ghost of Yotei. A trilogy rerelease would be a fantastic idea, but for now, let’s keep our eyes on the current project and wait to see what magical world Sucker Punch will transport us to next.

Fox collaborated with Jason Connell in co-directing Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei. For several years, Sucker Punch Productions has been associated mainly with these two games. Among the initial three titles, only Second Son is playable on PlayStation 4. The first two Infamous games are exclusively found on PlayStation 3, potential choices for remasters should the series be revived again.

2022 saw a blog post from Sucker Punch stating they currently have no intentions to return to the Infamous or Sly Cooper franchises that fans adore. Interestingly, hints related to their past projects can be found in Ghost of Tsushima.

In response to queries about Infamous’s future back in 2015, PlayStation head Scott Rohde stated, “We won’t ever retire an IP; we’ll always be receptive to creating more Infamous games.” However, in the almost decade since that conversation, the strongest hints of Infamous have been hidden references found in Astro Bot when it was launched in 2024.
