Indie Publisher Humble Games Lays Off Whole Team

I can’t express enough how devastating this news is for me and the entire Humble Games community. As a long-time fan of their innovative and unique indie game titles, I’ve grown attached to the team behind them. Today, I woke up to the heart-wrenching announcement that Humble Games has reportedly shut down, leaving about 40 talented individuals out of work.

According to reports, Humble Games, an independent game publishing company, has closed down, resulting in the layoff of all its employees.

Friends, I regret to inform you that I, along with every member of Humble Games, were let go this morning. – Emilee Kieffer (@EmileeKieffer), Senior QA at Humble Games (Twitter)

Dear Friends, I and the entire team at Humble Games were unexpectedly let go this morning. if any game studios are in need of a skilled senior or lead QA tester, please reach out to me as I am currently available for new opportunities.

Kieffer originally mentioned in the X/Twitter conversation that approximately 40 people were let go. It’s important to note that this impacted Humble Games, not Humble Bundle, which are separate teams. Humble Games is overseen by Ziff Davis, the parent company of IGN, while Humble Bundle is managed by IGN itself.

At present, Humble Games is responsible for publishing a number of well-known games including SIGNALIS, Temtem, and Coral Island. Furthermore, they have agreements to publish upcoming titles like Billie Bust Up, Totemic, and Never Alone II. However, the future of these latter games has yet to be determined.

In November 2023, Humble Games had previously let go of some employees before announcing larger layoffs in July 2024.
