JioHotstar has solidified its status as India’s leading streaming service, showcasing impressive viewership figures for the recently concluded ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 cricket tournament. The tournament ended with a thrilling final where India defeated New Zealand, providing statistics that highlight the platform’s control in the world’s most significant cricket market.
During the entire tournament, the streaming platform recorded a grand total of 5.4 billion video plays, amounting to approximately 110 billion minutes collectively watched by viewers. The India-New Zealand final was particularly popular, attracting an astounding 1.24 billion views and hitting a record high of 61.2 million simultaneous users at its peak.
Regions where Hindi is predominantly spoken made up over a third (38%) of the overall audience on the platform. Key states contributing to this trend were Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Goa, Punjab, and Haryana. Furthermore, JioHotstar demonstrated its technological prowess by reaching over 80% of homes with WiFi-enabled smart TVs, with Maharashtra having the highest viewership in this category.

JioHotstar showcased its technical expertise by penetrating more than 80% of households with WiFi-enabled smart TVs, with Maharashtra showing the highest viewership in this segment.

In this new era, effortless access and captivating interaction have become standard, rather than exceptional features,” she said. “Additionally, the tournament witnessed the highest single-day subscription count since its inception, particularly during the India vs Australia match, indicating that viewers are increasingly adopting digital streaming at an impressive rate.
JioHotstar offered extensive coverage with a variety of 16 broadcasts in nine languages: English, Hindi, Marathi, Haryanvi, Bengali, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. To enhance this selection, it also provided four multi-camera feeds, a Sign Language feed for the deaf, and audio descriptions to make content accessible for a wide range of viewers. Additionally, a mobile-friendly vertical feed option (MaxView) was available in both Hindi and English for those watching on their phones while on the move.
