Oh joy, another country is finally catching up with the rest of us in the AI department! According to Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, India is doing a fabulous job of embracing AI and making it their own. Because, you know, we didn’t invent it first or anything.

Altman’s recent X post (because, of course, he’s on X) gushes about India’s “amazing” AI adoption, saying, “What’s happening in India right now is amazing to watch. We love to see the exploration of creativity India is outpacing the world.”

With internet at dirt-cheap rates, millions of Indians are creating all sorts of AI-generated content, from videos to graphics to pictures. It’s like a digital Renaissance up in there! And, of course, the Indian government is doing its part by making computing power and GPUs available at affordable prices. Because, you know, that’s exactly what’s holding people back from creating AI-powered masterpieces – the cost of a decent computer.

The government has even set up three AI centres of Excellence in healthcare, agriculture, and sustainable cities, with a budget of Rs. 500 crore. Because, you know, that’s exactly what India needs – more government-funded initiatives. And, of course, Indian billionaires like Mukesh Ambani and Tata Groups are getting in on the action, building their own AI centres. Because, you know, they’re just dying to spend their money on AI research.

But wait, there’s more! A Hyderabad-based space tech startup is launching an AI-driven laboratory in space, because why not? And Indian politician Raghav Chadha is all about developing India’s own AI model, because, you know, we can’t just use someone else’s.
