Today, I’m thrilled to share that Bethesda Softworks has finally unveiled the launch date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PlayStation 5! The announcement was made in a fun video featuring Nolan North, known for his role as Nathan Drake in Uncharted, and Troy Baker, who’s iconic as Indiana Jones. They banter about what makes an unforgettable adventure, poke fun at their characters, and finally, North extends a warm welcome to Baker, revealing the release date – April 17th – hidden within a small box! Can’t wait to join you on this new adventure, Indy!
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle comes to PlayStation 5 on April 17th
The adventurous game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has been warmly welcomed by both fans and critics ever since its debut in December. Initially, it was only available exclusively on the Xbox console, with a Steam release as well, but starting next month, it will also be accessible on PlayStation. Even before the game’s initial release, it was already known that it would eventually come out for PS5. The official confirmation came during August’s Gamescom’s Opening Night Live presentation, where they announced that the Xbox exclusive would also make its way to PlayStation sometime early this year.
Given its exceptional reviews, scoring an 87/100 on OpenCritic, and our assessment of it as a heartfelt tribute to the film trilogy enthusiasts, it’s plausible that this game will experience a resurgence on the Sony console. As Machine Games and Bethesda Softworks are now part of the Xbox family of studios, this is also a significant triumph for Xbox gaming.
Microsoft’s gaming titan has persistently expanded its game portfolio to various consoles, as evidenced by recent disclosures about Forza Horizon 5 and the strategic games Age of Mythology: Retold and Age of Empires. These decisions have recently catapulted Xbox into the position of the leading video game publisher globally.
The presentation for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is set for April 2nd, and Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has hinted several times that Xbox aims to collaborate with this new console. While it’s unlikely that Indiana Jones will make an appearance on the new Nintendo console, there’s a lot we’re yet to learn about the Switch 2, such as its potential power level.
There’s been an increasing buzz about a possible Xbox portable gadget in the air, leading one to speculate if Microsoft intends to maintain their games on their own hardware. However, until this device is launched, it could be beneficial to examine how their flagship console releases perform on a potential new handheld platform similar to the Switch 2.
