Impact Network Inaugural Scripted Series ‘Highly Favored’ Sets Main Cast (EXCLUSIVE)

Impact Network‘s upcoming first scripted series has set its cast.

It has been reported that the cast for the half-hour sitcom “Highly Favored” includes: Michael Colyar (known for “Blackish,” “House Party III,” “The Princess & The Frog,” and “Martin”), KiKi Shepard (recognized from “It’s Showtime at the Apollo,” “Miss Evers Boys,” “Mind Your Business,” and “Grey’s Anatomy”), Anthony S. Goolsby (“Will Trent” and “42”), Chico Benymon (“Half & Half,” “Ali,” and “The Haunted Hathaways”), Rodney Perry (appearing in “Coming to America 2” and “Johnson Family Vacation”), and Melanie Comarcho (familiar from “Phat Tuesdays” and Snoop Dog’s “F*CN Around”).

Initially, the show was planned for broadcast on Impact Network as early as November. As we had mentioned earlier, the series will feature a total of six episodes. However, the exact air date is still undecided.

The series, ‘Highly Favored’, is centered around themes of humor, family, community, and a dash of the unusual. It delves into the conflict between traditional values and contemporary ways, seen primarily through the perspective of the charming but old-fashioned Pastor Michael Crawley (Colyar).

On the television series “Highly Favored,” Bentley Kyle Evans holds multiple roles including executive producer, director, and showrunner, under Harvest Studios. Trenten W. Gumbs is another executive producer. Royal W. Jackson, executive vice president of Impact Network, will co-executive produce. Moreover, Colyar and Shepard are not only stars in the series but also producers.

Colyar and Evans are set to reunite, having collaborated earlier on the successful sitcom “Martin.” In this past collaboration, Evans served as both writer and producer, while Colyar portrayed Mr. Whitaker in several episodes.

The upcoming project brings Colyar and Evans back together, as they had previously teamed up for the popular TV show “Martin.” On that series, Evans handled writing and producing duties, whereas Colyar acted as Mr. Whitaker in various episodes.

According to Evans, a fantastic cast is what makes any series stand out. Michael, KiKi, Anthony, Chico, Rodney, and Melanie are all skilled professionals with impeccable comic timing. I’m really looking forward to audiences getting a chance to see this exceptional group of performers.

Character Descriptions

Lavesta Crawley (Shepard), recognized as the First Lady, is not only the wife of Pastor Crawley but also his most significant motivator. She stands as his steadfast supporter, offering him undying love and constant encouragement from behind the scenes. As a mother, she exhibits a protective nature, though this may sometimes come across as overbearing. However, beneath her elegant facade lies a woman who is deeply committed to her family and her significant role as the revered First Lady.

Demarcus Crawley, also known as Goolsby, serves as the self-righteous assistant pastor and is the eldest son with aspirations to take over his father’s role as Pastor. However, Crawley doesn’t seem too keen on that idea.

Michael “MJ” Crawley, Jr., also known as Benymon, is not the eldest son who made it big, but rather the younger one who didn’t quite reach stardom in the music production world. Now, he’s returned to live under his parents’ roof, sharing their home with his daughter, Brianna (Kali Rose Lewis), and playing the organ for the church choir.

Deacon Jones (formerly known as Perry) became close friends with Pastor Crawley during their time serving together in Vietnam. This connection strengthened their friendship throughout their lives. Within the church, Deacon serves as a trusted confidant to the pastor, offering constant support and occasionally adding needed humor.

Sister Sarah Comarcho consistently stands up for her religious beliefs alongside the First Lady, yet she shares a deep friendship with Lavesta that embodies unwavering loyalty. Furthermore, she cherishes the Crawley family as if they were her very own.
