Manuel Belmar, the head of digital goods for Globo, will be revealing “The Agents” during their panel discussion today at Rio2C – the biggest creativity festival in Latin America, which runs from May 27th to June 1st in Rio de Janeiro.
The group known as ‘Os Corretores’ is depicted as a unique blend of drama and humor within the real estate industry. The story primarily revolves around two real estate agents, with Torres taking on the female protagonist’s role; the male counterpart’s character has yet to be determined.
Torres became the first Brazilian to win a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture, which she received for her outstanding portrayal of Eunice Paiva in “I’m Still Here”. This year, she was also nominated for an Academy Award in the same category.
Apart from her journalistic work, Torres is also an accomplished author who has penned two novels. Her first novel, titled “The End,” was a massive success in Brazil, selling over 200,000 copies and being translated into seven different languages. It was later adapted into a ten-episode series. In October of 2023, Torres wrote the script for this series which premiered on streaming platform Globoplay.
Torres has made a significant mark in his writing career, contributing to the storyline of “The Others,” which is one of Globoplay’s most successful original series so far.
In the director’s chair for “Me You Them,” a film that graced festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto, was none other than Waddington. This production featured Torres and the illustrious Fernanda Montenegro, with Waddington himself contributing to its script and direction. “House of Sand,” a triumphant release by Sony Pictures Classics in the U.S., garnered recognition at Sundance with the Sundance/NHK International Filmmakers Script award and the prestigious Alfred Sloan award.
