I’m Going To The Movies 4 Weekends In A Row, And I Can’t Remember The Last Time That Happened

I enjoy going to the movies, but I also love the comfort of home, so I don’t go every weekend. These days, with so many options for streaming movies and TV shows at home, I usually only go to the theater for films I’m really excited about or want to experience on the big screen. It hasn’t happened often lately, but this week I bought tickets and realized I have a movie to see every Saturday for the next month – I can’t remember the last time that happened!

So, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about which four movies I’m most excited for! Here’s the scoop, with the dates they come out – though honestly, I usually hit the theater on Saturdays, so my viewing day might be different!

Begonia (October 31)

The new black comedy from Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Emma Stone, looks really strange and unique, and I’m eager to see it before I find out too much about the plot. From the trailer, I understand Stone plays the head of a company who gets kidnapped by a pair of men convinced she’s an alien.

Nuremberg (November 7)

While some might prefer the action of Predator: Badlands (also out November 7), I was particularly interested in Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt. The film focuses on the trials held after World War II to prosecute Nazi military leaders for their crimes during the Holocaust. It also boasts a strong cast, including Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Leo Woodall.

The Running Man (November 14)

I don’t remember the original Running Man movie, but I’m a fan of both Edgar Wright and Glen Powell. The trailer for this new version looks like exactly the kind of fun, chaotic movie I’d want to see on a Saturday. Count me in!

Wicked: For Good (November 21)

Of course! I knew I had to see the sequel to Wicked. The trailer just made me even more eager. What really surprised me, though, was how much anticipation built up in the weeks leading up to the release.

I’m not sure if I’ll continue going to the theater after seeing Wicked: For Good, but I’m not planning any further ahead right now. I am really looking forward to December, though, when The Housemaid movie comes out! I’m excited about all the book adaptations coming to the screen, and this one looks like a particularly thrilling and suspenseful watch.

There have been some good movies in theaters recently, but nothing has really jumped out as a weekend must-see. Luckily, not going to the movies every weekend has given me time to watch films I missed during their theatrical runs. I’m finally getting around to The Naked Gun (available on Paramount+) and Weapons (on HBO Max).

I really enjoy having so many great movies to choose from, rather than struggling to find just one that looks good. It’s a fantastic situation for any movie lover!
