In simple terms, “I’ll Be Brave” is a first-person narrative adventure game where you play as a child who’s been hospitalized for a long time. To cope, they immerse themselves in an ’80s style 2D platformer. The game is filled with engaging minigames, offering glimpses into how a child might imagine playing with their toys while trying to overcome their illness. However, it’s the platformer that forms the main focus of the game.
Just like Super Mario and other games from that time period, players embark on an enjoyable 2D adventure spanning various chapters and levels, all while following a dynamic storyline. The creation of this game holds a special significance for the InkForge Studios team, as their director, Thomas Hunt, was once a patient at Great Ormond Street Hospital For Children himself.
Established more than a century back, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) stands today as one of the world’s top pediatric hospitals, providing care for approximately 750 critically ill children and adolescents every day. Beyond its role as a hospital, GOSH is also an essential hub for research, collaborating with local, national, and international partners to advance treatments and improve outcomes for children in similar circumstances.
In 1998, they established Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity as an independent organization. Today, donations are still being made to support pediatric healthcare facilities, patient and family assistance, and advancements in research and technological development to better aid critically ill children.
