IKEA and Chupa Chups have collaborated on a surprisingly unique treat: a lollipop that tastes like IKEA’s famous meatballs.
Okay, so remember that crazy thing everyone thought was an April Fool’s joke? Well, it’s actually happening! These two brands have officially teamed up, and we’re going to be able to buy the stuff in IKEA stores this summer. I can’t believe it’s real!
The “Meatball Lollipop” is a fun candy inspired by IKEA’s famous Swedish meatballs and their lingonberry sauce. Surprisingly, it’s completely vegan, offering a playful combination of sweet and savory tastes.
The Meatball-flavored lollipop is real
IKEA says the idea for the product became popular after people loved their April Fool’s Day joke. The positive reaction led them to team up with Chupa Chups and actually create the item.
Chupa Chups’ Global Marketing Manager, Martin Hofling, said they were fascinated when IKEA asked them to create a lollipop based on their famous Swedish meatball.
IKEA plans to give away about one million lollipops worldwide. You won’t be able to buy them – instead, they’ll be offered as free samples at certain IKEA stores beginning in June, as long as supplies last.

It’s kinda funny, but this item won’t be released in Sweden, where the company is from, or in Japan, India, Serbia, Croatia, Romania, or Slovenia. It’s a bit of a bummer for players in those countries, honestly.
IKEA explains this partnership is part of a larger effort to make food fun and remind people of happy memories. They’re focusing on creating surprising and interesting tastes, rather than sticking to what people already know. The goal is a candy that feels both comforting and completely new.
It’s still too early to tell if it’ll be a long-term success, but the meatball lollipop is definitely one of the most unusual food combinations of 2026.
Both brands have already made headlines this year for their viral food concepts.
Chupa Chups launched a special edition lollipop with a wrapper that couldn’t be opened – even with fire or a knife – to highlight their new, easier-to-open packaging.
IKEA recently unveiled a massive 20-inch hot dog as part of a playful competition with Costco to see who can offer the best hot dog deal.
