The launch of Battlefield 6 on Electronic Arts’ PC app had some initial problems, preventing players from accessing the game. EA has since fixed the issue and is offering free season passes and experience boosts as an apology to those affected.
Players who pre-ordered Battlefield 6 through the EA App on PC experienced problems on launch day, October 10th, due to an app outage. As an apology, EA is giving these players 12 boosts that double their hardware XP and 12 boosts that double their career XP.
Electronic Arts is also giving away a free premium Battle Pass for Battlefield 6’s first season. Players who already purchased the Season 1 Battle Pass with the Phantom Edition will get the Season 2 Battle Pass instead, at no extra cost.
Even with some initial issues with the EA App, Battlefield 6 launched without major problems on all platforms. This was a much better start than previous Battlefield games, which often suffered from long periods of server outages.
Despite a generally smooth launch, some players experienced a few problems over the weekend. A bug that impacted movement after jumping with specific weapons has already been resolved. However, there’s still an issue where players can glitch out of the game’s boundaries and reach unintended areas like rooftops. This gives those players an unfair advantage in multiplayer matches, and the developers are working on a fix, though a release date isn’t yet known.
Battlefield 6 had a very successful launch, with over 747,000 players online simultaneously on Steam at one point on its first day. When you include players on EA’s app and consoles, it’s clear the game is off to a great start. The first season of content for Battlefield 6 will arrive on October 28th, adding new maps, game types, weapons, and other features to the game.
Richard Wakeling of TopMob scored Battlefield 6 an 8 out of 10 in his review. He found the single-player campaign uninspired, but praised the exciting and complex multiplayer experience, even though the game doesn’t introduce many new ideas.
