If The Boys Were A Video Game, It Might Look Like This

As a huge fan of The Boys, I was absolutely blown away by the epic finale of season 4. Eric Kripke’s behind-the-scenes revelation about their use of Cncpt Studio for creating detailed CG pre-visualizations for major scenes has left me in awe.

As a longtime fan of comic books and gritty, adult-themed TV shows, I’ve been hooked on The Boys since its debut. So, when I heard that the latest season had wrapped up and left us with a mind-blowing finale, I couldn’t help but be intrigued. And now, the showrunner Eric Kripke has given us a sneak peek into how they brought that climax to life on screen.

Eric Kripke shared that his team collaborates with Cncpt Studio to generate intricate CG previews for significant scenes before shooting, including the season finale. Preparing a pre-vis sequence allows the team to determine optimal camera angles, lenses, and coverage without requiring actors to physically rehearse. Jackson’s Peter famously employed pre-vis animatics to plan out complex and massive scenes as well. This approach is widely used in Hollywood productions.

As a longtime fan of The Boys and someone who has worked in the film industry as a visual effects artist for over a decade, I can tell you that the collaboration between Kripke and Cncpt for the season finale’s pivotal sequence was nothing short of breathtaking.

“Our team is amazing,” Kripke said of the work. Take a look at the video for yourself below.

Behind the Scenes Fun Fact: During the creation of large VFX sequences for “The Boys,” Stephan Fleet and Cncpt Previz produce intricate CG pre-visualizations (pre-viz). This allows our team to make informed decisions regarding camera angles, lenses, and film coverage. Check out episode 8’s climax in #TheBoysFinale! Our team is truly exceptional. #TheBoysTV

People are greatly impressed by the visuals of The Boys’ character models on Prime Video, leading some to suggest making a video game out of the series. Whether this will come to fruition is uncertain, as the rights could be complex due to The Boys being produced by Sony Pictures Television for Amazon. Notably, both Sony and Amazon possess their individual gaming divisions.

The characters from The Boys series have made their way into video games. In particular, Homelander, Starlight, and Black Noir are now playable in Call of Duty. separately, Homelander has been introduced in Mortal Kombat as a singular playable character.

The Boys are set to make a comeback for their last season eventually, but don’t expect it right away. In the interim, supporters can anticipate the second season of Gen V at a relatively earlier date.
