If Hercules returns to the MCU we need to see him fight this New Avenger

Based on recent news, it appears that Marvel Studios could be planning a Hercules production – offering an ideal opportunity to match him up against one of their latest Avengers characters.

Will there be a chance for us to revisit the unresolved storylines involving Harry Styles’ Starfox, Kit Harington’s Black Knight (Dane Whitman), and any of the various Kangs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

In the final moments of Thor: Love and Thunder, Zeus instructs his son Hercules (played by Brett Goldstein) to hunt down Thor and end his life. With a nod, Hercules agrees, suggesting a potential future clash between Thor and Hercules that unfortunately never materialized on screen.

As a die-hard gamer of the Marvel universe, I can’t help but get excited about Thor’s return in Avengers: Doomsday. There’s a slim, almost imperceptible chance that we might see Hercules pop up too. If he does make an appearance later on, it could pave the way for a classic comic fight scene to unfold in the MCU.

Hercules should fight Sentry in the MCU

As per a new scoop from Daniel Richtman, Marvel is “developing a Hercules project.”

It’s not certain whether this will be a sequel to Thor: Love and Thunder, a TV series, a unique presentation, or something different altogether. This also implies that Disney is simultaneously working on two Hercules projects, with the Russo brothers allegedly having creative disagreements with the studio regarding their live-action adaptation.

In 2023, when I chatted with Variety, I admitted that I was completely clueless about the state of affairs regarding Hercules at Marvel Studios.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but ponder who might take on the role of the Almighty God of Strength in future Marvel projects. If Goldstein is back, it would be a missed opportunity not to match him against one of the MCU’s strongest titans: Sentry. After all, these two heavyweights could truly deliver an epic showdown that fans have been craving for years.

In Marvel’s Hercules #128, there’s a short-lived skirmish with the Sentry, who was among the Dark Avengers at that point. This fight underscores Hercules’ immense power, as the Sentry possesses energy equivalent to a million exploding stars.

As Sentry charges towards him, Hercules swiftly catches his cape and sends him packing. Effortlessly, he keeps Sentry at bay for the remainder of the comic book, even remarking, “I was under the impression that you were supposed to be strong.

Sentry queries, “Hercules, are you certain about releasing energy equivalent to a million supernovas?” To which, Hercules replies affirmatively and subsequently pushes him aside.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), when Sentry’s powers are in action during Thunderbolts, he becomes almost invincible. To balance this strength, the MCU may want to humble him as Thanos did with the Hulk. Hercules might be the character to accomplish this task.
