Idris Elba Expresses Interest In Working With Keanu Reeves On A Cyberpunk 2077 Film Adaptation

As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I must say the prospect of seeing Shadow and Knuckles share the silver screen is nothing short of thrilling! Idris Elba’s enthusiasm for a potential live-action Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation has me even more excited.

We’re nearly at the point of worldwide cinema premieres for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, the third live-action movie in the series, which has generated a lot of anticipation due to Shadow the Hedgehog’s introduction. In this film, Shadow, an anthropomorphic character, makes his first appearance and is voiced by Keanu Reeves. Alongside Reeves, the cast features Idris Elba reprising his role as Knuckles after the debut of his spin-off series on Paramount+.

As a passionate fan, I recently had the pleasure of chatting with the talented cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ahead of its grand release in cinemas on December 20th, 2024. In our conversation, the charismatic Idris Elba, reprising his role as Knuckles the Echidna, shared some intriguing insights about potentially teaming up with Shadow the Hedgehog’s voice actor, the equally captivating Keanu Reeves, in a future video game adaptation.

His responses were intriguing, as Elba suggested that the game would make a great live-action film and expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of his character Solomon Reed meeting Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand in such a movie.

Hey there! That’s an awesome question you got there. If any video game were to make a leap into live-action, it’d be Cyberpunk 2077 for me. I can just imagine the fusion of our characters – “Wow,” would probably be the right word! So, let’s bring that vision to life.

As a passionate fan, I can’t help but share my excitement over CD Projekt RED’s announcement last year about upcoming adaptations in the Cyberpunk universe! During Netflix Geeked Week in September, we learned that an animated project was in the works, with the developer clarifying that while there won’t be a second season for Edgerunners, they are indeed extending the Cyberpunk 2077 universe into other film and television projects.
