John Wick doesn’t gain friends lightly, but Winston, played by Ian McShane, is an exception who’s stood by him since the John Wick movie franchise started in 2014. Consequently, McShane has witnessed many characters enter and exit this realm of assassins and intriguing criminals, most meeting their end at the hands of Keanu Reeves’ character. However, one individual has caused Shane particular rage, and I found his explanation for this intriguing.
In a new development, McShane reprises his role as Winston for the film “Ballerina,” marking the initial theatrical spinoff of the John Wick series. Ana de Arias stars as Eve Macarro in this upcoming production. Prior to its release on the 2025 movie schedule, McShane reminisced about his time within the John Wick saga with CBR and expressed lingering anger towards Alfie Allen’s character Iosef Tarasov from the initial film. According to McShane:
I’m still quite upset with Alfie Allen. Despite him being a delightful young man, there are moments when I feel like he has the most irresistible urge to be slapped, if my earlier thoughts were any indication, as he once said, “I have a very slappable face,” you know.
Any dedicated fan of John Wick can easily understand that without Iosef Tarasov, Keanu Reeves’ character wouldn’t have come back to the world filled with violence. The reckless act of Iosef, the son of Russian mafia boss Viggo Tarasov, involved stealing John’s car and inadvertently killing his new pet dog, which was an especially heinous act given that the dog had been a heartfelt gift from John’s late spouse, Helen.

In essence, John swiftly avenged Iosef’s actions and removed anyone obstructing him, including Viggo who met his end after ordering Marcus’ death. This eventuality set the stage for all the ensuing chaos in the subsequent John Wick films, such as the spinoff film Ballerina since John plays a role therein. However, the most noteworthy point is that Ian McShane continues to find Alfie Allen from Game of Thrones’ face worthy of a slap, which I’m glad he finds important. Frankly, Iosef’s overconfidence only amplifies the potential for a slap.

Chad Stahelski acknowledges that the storyline for John Wick has essentially reached its conclusion. Here’s his strategy for crafting a fifth movie in the series.
In simpler terms, Chad Stahelski admits that the John Wick story seems complete. This is how he plans to create another film in the series.
Ana De Armas’ Tale on Meeting Keanu Reeves Unveils an Oops Moment where she Mistakenly Mentioned Never Watching The Matrix, a Blunder she’ll Forever Find Mortifying.
Well, you know, once something happens, it’s history. However, in the world of action movies, foolish actions by characters like Iosef Tarasov have given us some fantastic films! As for Ian McShane’s character Winston, we’ll catch up with him during the time gap between John Wick: Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, when he was managing The Continental’s New York branch alongside Lance Reddick’s Charon. In this tale, Ana de Arias’ character will employ the assassination skills she learned from the Ruska Roma to avenge her father’s death by targeting those responsible.
As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that starting June 6, the dance drama Ballerina will grace our cinema screens. Joining the stellar cast are Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Norman Reedus, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Choi Soo-young, Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Castañeda, along with stars like de Armas, McShane, Reeves, and Reddick. Len Wiseman takes the helm as director for this spinoff, while Shay Hatten pens the script.
