‘I Think I’ve Got My Sea Legs’: Heather Gay Reflects On Ultimate Girls Trip And How She’d Do Things Differently

The Real Housewives is a hugely popular franchise, and many fans, including me, consider Salt Lake City to be one of the best reality shows currently airing. For dedicated viewers, the Ultimate Girls Trip spinoff felt like an all-star event, bringing together women from different Real Housewives cities for vacation-based crossovers. Heather Gay, a star on RHOSLC, was part of the third season of Ultimate Girls Trip, and she recently discussed with TopMob what she’d change if she were to return for another season.

I recently had the chance to speak with Heater Gay related to her new partnership with Atkins, where eventually the conversation turned to RHUGT (which is streaming with a Peacock subscription). As you can see in the video above, I asked if she thinks her experience would be different on the spinoff now that she’s had a few more years on Salt Lake City. As she told me:

When I first became a Housewife, I grew up around other Housewives, so it was a very different world back then. Now, after several Bravo conventions and opportunities for us to interact, it’s become much more common for Housewives from different cities to connect and form relationships. Over the last few years, these connections have become a regular part of the experience.

When Heather Gay and Whitney Rose joined the cast of Ultimate Girls Trip, they had recently finished filming season three of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Still relatively new to the Housewives franchise, they were excited to meet stars like Gizelle Bryant and Candiace Dillard Bassett (who is now on The Traitors). Heather has said she grew up watching the Housewives shows and already knew the other women before they all met in Thailand.

Peacock TV is available starting at $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. You can stream popular shows like The Real Housewives and Ultimate Girls Trip. For a slightly higher price, you can upgrade to Peacock Premium or Premium Plus for ad-free viewing and the ability to download shows and movies to watch offline. See the deal here.

Gay is right to say things would be different if she returned to Ultimate Girls Trip. She’s experienced a lot of intense TV moments since being on Season 3, including the drama with Monica Garcia, Heather’s memorable presentation of evidence, and the dramatic Season 6 finale. Because of all that, she believes a second appearance on the show would be a completely different experience.

Things would definitely be different now. I’m much more comfortable and settled in, and I’ve built a better, more even relationship with the other wives. I’d still be excited to be around them – you can’t help but admire these women – but it wouldn’t be as overwhelming as before.

On Ultimate Girls Trip, Heather shared that she initially felt a little insecure around the other women, but she’s become much more confident since then. She joked in the first episode about not being as glamorous as the rest of the group, but she’s since undergone a significant physical transformation with the help of GLP-1 medications and the Atkins diet. Considering her experience as a leader on Salt Lake City, it’s understandable that Heather would present herself differently if she were to return to RHUGT. You can find a post about her partnership with Atkins below.

Heather confirmed she’s still a big fan of the Real Housewives shows, even enthusiastically singing along to Candiace’s song “Drive Back.” However, she believes she would approach things differently if she were to return for another season of Ultimate Girls Trip.

I think that I’d have a little more experience under my belt to bring to the table.

As a longtime viewer, I’m really hoping Heather Gay gets another shot at her own spinoff series down the line. I was a little disappointed to see she wasn’t named as one of the main Housewives heading out on The Real Housewives Ultimate Road Trip, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed she might pop up as a guest along the way. I’m sending all the positive vibes – and snowflakes – her way!

You can watch new episodes of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City on Bravo every Tuesday as part of the 2026 television lineup. While we don’t have a premiere date yet for the next season of Ultimate Girls Trip, the Road Trip season is planned to air later this year.
