To illustrate this, O’Neal referred back to a noteworthy on-court incident in 1999. At that time, Barkley was playing for the Houston Rockets, while O’Neal was with the Lakers. The fight started when Barkley threw a ball at O’Neal, who responded with a forceful foul. While viewers only witnessed this on TV, what they didn’t see was their mothers stepping in after Shaq retaliated to calm things down.
As I made my way to the locker room, Uncle Jerome, a character known by many, gave me something – it turned out to be my mom’s phone. To my surprise, both my mom and Charles’ mom, lifelong friends I didn’t know about, were on a heated conversation. Someone intervened, saying, “You two need to cool it down.” I picked up the phone and asked, “Who’s this?” The response was, “This is your mama.” I then heard, “And this is Charles’ mama. Don’t you dare hurt my child!” In that moment, the deep bond we share with our mothers – a bond I wouldn’t dream of breaking for anything or anyone. So, I chose to respect both my mom and his mom, and kept the conversation as peaceful as possible.
I’m chuckling about Shaq’s use of a strong language during NBA on TNT, but what really catches my attention is the big television deal he recently secured.
Previously a four-time NBA champion, he remarked that Charles Barkley had already conversed with his mom before their encounter. Later, in the hallway, Shaq and Barkley shared a chuckle, recognizing they were both known as “mama’s boys.” Since then, they’ve discovered mutual ground, particularly on Inside the NBA, where they’ve engaged in various comedic skits. A popular video clip of them went viral, hinting at the show’s potential cancellation. Furthermore, they inspire each other; Shaq humorously admitted that he felt motivated to lose weight upon noticing a resemblance in their physiques.
In essence, there are countless memorable moments shared by these two that it’s hard to list them all. Ranging from Shaq teasing Chuck over not understanding “DM sliding” to Barkley poking fun at Shaq for needing to use the restroom during a broadcast, their history is rich and full of laughter. Their bond is deep, which Shaq himself aptly described.
Instead of saying “I love the motherfucker,” you could express your feelings more positively by stating something like: “He’s such an amazing person; he really reminds me of an ideal big brother. I can’t help but feel grateful for his presence in my life.
It’s rare to find two individuals with a connection as strong as Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal. Being a fan of both, I can only wish that their friendship remains strong.
