Lately, Bloober Team has been quite active. Their recent remake of Silent Hill 2 has received great reviews from critics, and their upcoming game, Cronos: The New Dawn, is set to release later this year. At the Future Games Show today, they revealed not just a new studio called Broken Mirror Games, but also their first project under the label – I Hate This Place. This project is an adaptation of a popular comic series in collaboration with Skybound Entertainment.
As a gamer, I’m diving headfirst into “I Hate This Place,” an isometric survival-horror masterpiece that drops me right smack in the shoes of Elena. It’s not just another day for Elena – she’s got a supernatural menace on her hands, something she unwittingly let loose upon the world.
Throughout the game, I’ll be Elena, battling my way through waves of monstrous foes using a mix of melee and ranged weaponry. But it’s not just about fighting; I’ve got to scavenge for crucial supplies to craft essential items as well. Each safehouse I reach before nightfall brings us one step closer to putting an end to this nightmare.
In a short sneak peek, the adaptation’s distinctive style—reminiscent of classic comic books—is previewed, mirroring its original content. Additionally, some towering beasts that Elena will encounter are displayed, along with a hint at the enigmatic Horned Man who is central to the storyline.
Starting this year, I’ve been diving into the comic book world of “I Hate This Place,” a series penned by Kyle Starks and beautifully illustrated by Artyom Topilin. Debuting through Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment back in May 2022, it’s become my go-to read over the past year. The series spanned 10 issues, with the final one dropping in July 2023. Excitingly, two hardcover collections of this fantastic journey are set to hit shelves later in 2023!
As an eager gamer, I’m thrilled to share that “I Hate This Place” is slated to debut towards the end of this year on platforms such as Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Can’t wait to dive in!
