‘I Had To Turn Away’ We Attended An Early Screening Of A24’s Bring Her Back, And The Fan Reaction Was Intense

Experiencing the thrill of watching a horror film in a bustling theater is unlike anything else. You can practically taste the tension in the air and see how engrossed everyone is, especially when the movie is exceptionally well-made. Last week, I got to relive that sensation during a viewing of A24’s terrifying masterpiece, “Bring Her Back“.

For quite a while now, I’ve been told that the movie is incredibly scary. TopMob’s Reviews Editor, Eric Eisenberg, was extremely enthusiastic about some early clips he watched in March, and the responses from the first critics’ screening were overwhelmingly positive and expletive-filled. Given this, I expected the screening to be enjoyable, but I wasn’t anticipating the shared fear and unease we all experienced instead.

Working together with A24, we organized a camera team outside the screening to speak with viewers once it concluded, and for the record, they shared similar sentiments as myself. Over two dozen people were interviewed, many of whom appeared to be veteran horror enthusiasts, and their responses were quite intense and filled with enthusiasm. Feel free to watch the highlight video below…

The newest horror film, titled “Bring Her Back“, has been created by directors Danny and Michael Philippou, who are also known for their successful A24 production “Talk To Me“. This new project appears to be another hit, as it’s been receiving terrific reviews and generating quite the buzz among viewers. In fact, many of the people I saw the movie with seemed eager to share their positive experiences with friends afterwards.

Should you find yourself unfamiliar with “Bring Her Back”, I’ll provide a concise overview, but I’ll make it brief since this movie is best experienced without knowing too much in advance. Essentially, it focuses on two siblings who move in with a foster mother, portrayed by double Oscar-nominated actress Sally Hawkins. Her character exhibits an unsettling, dark hippie mom vibe. The acting chemistry between Hawkins and the child actors is remarkable, and the film is shot with a raw, authentic feel reminiscent of “Talk To Me”, even though its narrative twists are somewhat unconventional.

This weekend, the movie “Bring Her Back” hits theaters not just in the U.S., but also in several English-speaking countries worldwide. It’s a unique cinematic experience that stands out among this year’s releases, and after discussing it with many others, I can confidently say it’s highly recommended!
