„I feel like a death ballerina.” A Cyberpunk 2077 player reminds community about an underrated but deadly weapon

On July 17th, Cyberpunk 2077 was updated to version 2.3. While the list of changes isn’t extensive, there are some notable additions such as a laughably poor autodrive feature, new vehicles, and an improved photo mode. This update presents a great reason to revisit the game, and if you’re returning, why not try out a new build? One interesting option might be the Mantis Blades this time around.

Mantis Blades build in Cyberpunk 2077 can be good

In the vibrant world of Cyberpunk 2077, Mantis Blades stand out as iconic weapons. You might recall them from the initial teaser trailer way back in 2013. However, despite their cool factor, they may not be as potent compared to other options. If you examine the raw data, katanas undeniably surpass them. So, if your goal is a character with sheer power, the decision appears straightforward, doesn’t it?

Debates about the effectiveness of Mantis Blades have been ongoing for quite some time, with some advocating for its utility while others criticize it as an iconic weapon.

Katanas undoubtedly have more strength, but it doesn’t matter which weapon you choose, you can still complete the game. Ultimately, it comes down to your personal preference on what weapon you feel most comfortable using.

Although Mantis Blades might not initially seem powerful due to their underdog status, they can be highly effective (and astonishing) when equipped with the right perks, making them a solid choice for melee-focused builds. Fortunately, there are players who appreciate this weapon’s potential and find it enjoyable, one of whom recently shared a video showcasing combat using nothing but Mantis Blades.

I am a certified Mantis Blades ENJOYER. I feel like a death ballerina when I’m the zone.

To maximize the effectiveness of Mantis Blades, it’s crucial to prioritize investing points into your Reflex attribute. This will grant you access to abilities that boost Mantis Blade performance. Among these, there are two that stand out and are worth focusing on:

  1. Lead and Steel (lvl 2) that allows you to block bullets with blades.
  2. Flash and Thunderclap which gives V an ability to automatically leap to enemies within range, after performing strong attacks.

Furthermore, an advantageous addition to the build is the ability to execute a far-reaching Leap Attack following the severance of an enemy or the execution of a finisher using Mantis Blades, granted by the Jailbreak skill from the Phantom Liberty’s Relic tree.
