As a dedicated fan of Korean dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement over the upcoming crime series “Made in Korea.” With two titans of South Korean cinema, Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, squaring off in a high-stakes drama, it’s like a dream come true.
In the crime series “Made in Korea,” set to premiere soon, two prominent South Korean actors, Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung, are set to compete against each other.
1970s serve as the backdrop for “Made in Korea,” a gripping crime thriller. The story revolves around Kitae, a man driven by ambition for wealth and authority, and Geonyoung, a tenacious prosecutor who opposes him. Their paths often clash, but fate brings them together during a pivotal event that will indelibly mark their lives.
The series features Hyun Bin, known for “Crash Landing on You” and “Confidential Assignment,” as Kitae, and Jung from “12.12: The Day” and “Hunt” as Geonyoung. In addition, the cast includes Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Jung Sung-il.
The screenplay has been penned by Park Eun-kyo, known for “Sea of Tranquility” and “Mother,” as well as Park Joon-seok, famous for “A Normal Family.” It is being helmed by Woo Min-ho, who has directed “The Man Standing Next” and “Inside Men.” The production company is Hive Media Corp., known for producing movies like “Inside Men,” “The Man Standing Next,” and “12.12 The Day” (also called “Seoul Spring”).
Woo is making his debut as a TV series director. Additionally, he’s the creator of “Harbin,” an action thriller with political undertones. This film will have its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month and will be commercially released in Korea on September 8th.
The show will stream exclusively on Disney+ at an unspecified date in 2025.
In a recent announcement, it’s been revealed that the popular streamer has plans for a Korean crime series titled “Knock-Off,” scheduled for release in 2025. Starring Kim Soohyun, known for her roles in “My Love from The Star,” “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” and “Queen of Tears,” as well as Cho Boah, famed for “Tale of the Nine Tailed” and “Military Prosecutor Doberman,” this series will delve into the shady realm of counterfeit products. The story revolves around a man whose life is devastated by the 1997 Asian financial crisis, only to find himself on a dramatic path with his former girlfriend, now a special police officer.
Disney has been rapidly expanding its collection of Korean content and has already debuted ten shows this year, 2024. Among the upcoming Korean offerings are “The Tyrant,” “Unmasked,” “Seoul Busters,” “Light Shop,” and the crime thriller “Gangnam B-Side.” These shows will make their debut as part of the Busan International Film Festival (see details below). In 2025, Disney plans to release high-quality, character-driven dramas such as “Tempest,” “Low Life,” and “Nine Puzzles.”
