Hugh Jackman Says ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Director Shouted ‘Fresh Lube on Hugh!’ to Make His Muscles Pop and ‘Put on Oil to Make My Skin Glisten’

As a movie lover with a keen eye for the intricacies of filmmaking and an appreciation for the dedication that goes into bringing our favorite characters to life, I must say, Hugh Jackman‘s return as Wolverine has been nothing short of spectacular! His heartfelt gratitude towards his team in his recent social media post is a testament to the camaraderie and collaboration that often goes unseen behind the scenes.

As a movie connoisseur, I’m thrilled to express my gratitude to my dedicated team who meticulously sculpted me into peak physical condition for the dual roles of Deadpool and Wolverine. This remarkable transformation marked my long-anticipated comeback as the iconic X-Men mutant, a role I thought I had bid farewell to after portraying Logan in 2017

Jackman mentioned that many individuals have approached him with queries about his fitness journey, including details on his workout routine, diet, and the challenges he faced at his age. He wanted to clarify that while he did indeed put in the effort – lifting weights, consuming healthy meals, and so forth – it was his exceptional team that played a crucial role in his success. Without their support, he admitted there would be no way he could have achieved what he did

Jackman vocally acknowledged Beth Lewis, his personal trainer of the past five years, who assisted him in achieving and maintaining physical fitness for diverse projects such as “Deadpool,” “Wolverine,” and his stage role in “The Music Man” on Broadway. Furthermore, he publicly thanked makeup artist Whitney James for further accentuating his muscular build on the silver screen

“Whitney, the makeup artist, was asked to apply some sort of shimmering oil on me, as Jackman stated,” explained Levy. “Occasionally, you’d hear director Shawn Levy shout, ‘More highlighter for Hugh!’ which would cause everyone to chuckle.”

A considerable amount of lubricant was essential for shooting the intense power room scene where Deadpool and Wolverine thwarted Cassandra Nova’s wicked scheme. This part of the action showcases Hugh Jackman in peak physical condition

On that particular day, since I was in a bad mood, I hadn’t been drinking water the previous night. For several days prior, I had been eating tilapia and beans. To ensure the day went as smoothly as possible for me, everyone on set was incredibly accommodating, Jackman noted about filming the scene

Currently, “Deadpool & Wolverine” is being screened across the country’s cinemas. For a more detailed message from Jackman, head over to the X-post below

I am grateful.
