Hrithik Roshan and His Family to Feature in Netflix Documentary Series

As a lifelong enthusiast of Indian cinema, I find myself utterly thrilled about Netflix’s upcoming documentary series chronicling the Roshan family’s contributions to Hindi-language films. Growing up, their work was an integral part of my movie-watching experiences, and it feels like a dream come true to get a behind-the-scenes look at this legendary dynasty.

Netflix is set to broadcast a documentary series delving into the Roshan family’s three generations and their significant impact on Hindi-film industry. This will be the family’s first comprehensive exploration of their entertainment empire.

The documentary follows the family’s path, starting with matriarch Roshan Lal Nagrath (better known as Roshan in his professional life), moving on to his sons – actor and director Rakesh Roshan, famous for the “Krrish” series, and music composer Rajesh Roshan, who contributed to “Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,” and eventually reaching their grandson, the Bollywood titan Hrithik Roshan, known for films like “War.” The documentary delves into the combined influence this family has had on Indian cinema through their work in music, direction, and acting.

Veteran filmmaker Shashi Ranjan, known as “Dobara”, takes on the role of director and co-production with Rakesh Roshan. This series includes conversations with fellow professionals and contemporaries who share their insights about the family’s enduring impact on Hindi films.

This series is part of a rising global pattern where major streaming platforms are exploring Bollywood’s rich history. For instance, Netflix released “The Romantics,” a documentary about the Yash Chopra family, and Amazon Prime Video presented “Angry Young Men,” focusing on scriptwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar.

The Roshan family is thrilled to collaborate with Netflix and reveal tales from our past that significantly impacted us,” they declared in a statement. “This platform enables us to connect with audiences worldwide, and we feel privileged to present our odyssey to them.

Ranjan expressed that directing the series was “a highly fulfilling adventure,” expressing gratitude for being welcomed into the Roshan family’s realm and entrusted with their heritage, which he considers an honor.

Monika Shergill, Vice President of Content at Netflix India, described the series as “a poignant and sentimental voyage,” noting that it reveals the previously unheard tale spanning three generations of a legendary movie dynasty.

The film offers in-depth conversations with Rakesh Roshan, Rajesh Roshan, and Hrithik Roshan, providing unique perspectives on the Roshans’ rich history in the world of entertainment.
