As a seasoned movie critic with decades of experience under my belt, I must say I’ve seen more than a few high-stakes dramas unfold – and this latest feud between Howard Stern and Donald Trump is no exception.
This week saw Howard Stern and Donald Trump engaging in a verbal dispute. The SiriusXM radio host expressed some forthright views regarding Trump supporters, which led Trump to assert that Stern has transformed into a progressive advocate, losing his radio audience due to this shift.
During a recent episode of ‘The Howard Stern Show’, as reported by The Daily Beast, Stern expressed that the notion of people either liking or disliking him equates to being good or bad, and he has suffered from this. He stated, ‘I don’t share Trump’s politics, I believe he shouldn’t be in the White House. However, I don’t despise him. What I despise are those who vote for him. In my opinion, they’re not smart. Honestly, I hold them in low regard.’
As a film critic, I confidently stand by the convictions of my political leanings, acknowledging that it might alienate some of my audience members. I am well-prepared for the potential influx of heated correspondence from supporters of President Trump following these statements.
A few days afterwards, Trump made an appearance on the Fox News program “Gutfeld!”. During their conversation, a segment featuring Howard Stern expressing dislike towards Trump supporters was shown.
Trump stated on Greg Gutfeld’s show that he was a frequent guest, just like many others. At one point, Gutfeld was excellent, but then he became more progressive (or woke). Since then, his ratings have dropped significantly. Additionally, he shifted towards being critical of Trump for a couple of reasons.
A year ago, I openly acknowledged being labeled “woke” and considered it a sincere compliment rather than an insult. As a movie critic, I strive to keep up with the times and understand the cultural nuances reflected in films today.
‘I’ll express my thoughts openly. To me, being ‘awake’ is the opposite of being ‘asleep,’ and if ‘woke’ implies I can’t back Trump, which seems to be the case, or that I support individuals who identify as transgender, or I advocate for vaccines, then go ahead and label me ‘woke’ as much as you please.’
He went on to say, ‘I don’t stand for ignorance.’ On Friday morning, I left early and headed to CVS. Thank you, CVS. I got my new COVID vaccine there at 9 a.m. Science is amazing. This country is fantastic… I’m aware, buddy, and I appreciate it. I want to stay informed. Let me tell you how aware I am. I don’t believe the election was manipulated. I’m conscious. I think that’s praiseworthy.
Stern pointed out that those on the internet who assert they aren’t aware or accepting (referred to as ‘woke’) often appear to be quite enraged and particularly intolerant towards individuals identifying as LGBT, with a specific focus on transgender people.
As a supporter, I wholeheartedly agree with the idea that children should have the freedom to explore various topics in school. I’m not picky about what they read, as long as it’s appropriate and educational. When it comes to vaccines, I strongly advocate for them. In terms of being ‘woke,’ if it means staying informed and aware about important issues, then yes, I embrace that concept.
