How to watch tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct and what to expect

On March 27th, 2025, it’s been confirmed that there will be a Nintendo Direct broadcast. This is significant because the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct is scheduled for April 2nd, which is only a week away. In a recent social media post, Nintendo of America revealed some details about this presentation. The direct will primarily focus on approximately 30 minutes of upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch, but there won’t be any updates regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 during this broadcast. Here’s where to watch and what to anticipate.

Nintendo Direct scheduled for tomorrow, here’s how to watch and what to expect

Initially, before the live chat becomes overflowing with fans eager for updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong, it’s important to clarify that it won’t be featured there. Contrary to optimistic expectations, a brief 30-minute presentation just a week prior to the Nintendo Switch 2 showcase is not where this game will make its appearance. Instead, Silksong has evolved beyond the stage where it needs to compete for attention in a program packed with other games. In essence, Team Cherry and their highly anticipated title have garnered a level of anticipation similar to that of Grand Theft Auto 6 within the indie gaming world. If Team Cherry were to release a trailer unexpectedly during the day, it’s safe to say that a significant portion of the internet would pause their activities to watch it. With that said, let’s delve into the topic at hand.

As a gamer, I’d recommend heading over to Nintendo of America’s YouTube channel. The live streaming page is all set and ready to go, though you’ll just see a static image until the stream kicks off at 7:00AM Pacific Time. It’s always wise to be prepared, so you might as well get there early!

During this upcoming 30-minute Nintendo showcase, we probably won’t hear about any unannounced video games, as it seems unlikely that they will reveal new titles ahead of the release of their next console. This presentation is expected to focus on existing games rather than freshly announced ones. Interestingly, this event looks like a traditional Nintendo Direct, not a Partner Showcase, so we can anticipate updates on several Nintendo-developed games.

The game that immediately springs to mind is Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. This is one of Nintendo’s most anticipated first-party games at the moment. Although there are many other promising games scheduled after April 2nd, Metroid and Pokémon Legends: Z-A have already been confirmed for the original Nintendo Switch. It seems unlikely that any major unannounced Nintendo titles related to Mario, The Legend of Zelda, or similar flagship series will be revealed tomorrow, but rather during or after the presentation of the Switch 2.

This presentation is the final one in the first era of the Nintendo Switch, yet it seems more like a prelude to next week’s main event. My assumption is that this presentation will include a brief update on Metroid Prime 4, possibly a release date, as well as primarily updates from third-party developers and a couple of remakes. There might also be some time dedicated to honoring the legacy of the original Nintendo Switch. In essence, while there could be some surprises and intriguing games for everyone, this presentation isn’t expected to create a massive impact.
