Apart from the significant PlayStation 5 Pro unveiling recently, Sony’s been relatively silent on gaming-related updates as of late. Given that they didn’t participate in Gamescom, there hasn’t been much fresh news from them since the last State of Play which occurred in late May.

What to expect from the September 2024 State of Play
PlayStation announced that the event will span longer than half an hour, offering news and advancements about more than twenty forthcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from various global studios.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m buzzing with anticipation! Although they didn’t explicitly name any games, there’s a strong possibility that one of the reveals will be a polished-up version of Horizon Zero Dawn. The flames of speculation have been fanned high by a fresh ESRB rating, making it seem like a solid bet for this presentation.
Beyond this, Guerrilla Games is developing no less than two games connected to Horizon, which includes a multiplayer game. Even though these projects seem to be further off than the remaster, there’s a possibility that the State of Play could offer a glimpse or even hint at least one of these games to demonstrate that the series isn’t just dwelling on the past, but also planning to progress into the future.
In other words, it’s possible that Death Stranding 2 might be unveiled at this upcoming event. This gathering takes place a day prior to the commencement of Tokyo Game Show, and we already know that Hideo Kojima’s next project will have a special presentation during the event.
It’s likely that the remake of Silent Hill 2 could make an appearance here, given it was featured in May 2024’s State of Play event. With its release date just around the corner on October 8th, this presents another opportunity for Bloober Team and Konami to demonstrate to doubters that this challenging remake is indeed worthwhile.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that some notable PlayStation studios are working on undisclosed projects. Among them are the legendary Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions, both of whom have been relatively quiet since their 2020 releases – The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima respectively. I can hardly wait to see what exciting new worlds they’ll bring to life!
It’s worth noting that previous State of Play events have predominantly highlighted smaller announcements such as remasters, PC releases, and games from third-party developers. Therefore, it’s not expected that this showcase will unveil a large number of significant revelations from PlayStation’s own studios.
