As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent slicing and dicing my way through hordes of interdimensional creatures, I can confidently say that the return of the Chef in Risk of Rain 2‘s Seekers of the Storm DLC has me over the moon! This culinary combatant is not just a delight to behold, but a powerhouse on the battlefield.
In the latest expansion for Risk of Rain 2, titled Seekers of the Storm, one of the new playable characters is a familiar face – the Chef. Equipped with sharper-than-ever meat cleavers, this character is ready to join your gaming roster. Here’s an easy guide on how you can recruit the Chef in Risk of Rain 2
As a hardcore gamer, let me tell you how stoked I am about my favorite game, Risk of Rain 2! The latest update has dropped three new playable characters into the mix, and guess who’s joining the party? None other than Chef, one of the most adored characters in the entire series. Can’t wait to cook up some chaos with this culinary mastermind!
How to unlock and play as Chef in Risk of Rain 2
To get the character Chef in Risk of Rain 2, you’ll initially need to gather three distinct item drops. These are the Common items – Cautious Slug and Bison Steak, along with an Uncommon item, Infusion. As you go about this, it would be beneficial to use the Artifact of Command for a smoother acquisition process of these items
The Artifact of Command transforms your items into Command Essences, enabling you to choose a specific item from those you’ve already unlocked instead of receiving them at random
Additionally, remember that as you advance towards earning the Chef title, your progress persists across various attempts. If finding all three items sequentially proves challenging for you, rest assured that your progress will continue
After gathering the required three items, start by locating and activating a Halcyon Shrine during the initial stage. If the current stage lacks one, simply restart the stage until you find one. Once activated, feed the shrine with at least 200 gold pieces while defeating nearby enemies
Once sufficient gold is collected at the shrine, there’s a possibility of summoning a unique enemy (mini-boss) that must be defeated. After defeating this mini-boss, there might be an opportunity for a green portal to materialize. If no portal appears, you will need to repeat the process until one eventually spawns
As an enthusiast, I’d guide you to traverse through a one-of-a-kind destination known as the Reformed Altar. Keep moving forward until you come across a colossal staircase ascending towards a platform with pillars. Instead of going up the staircase, veer to its left side and discover a cave entrance nearby. Venture inside this cozy area and you’ll find a small altar section equipped with a wok pot, beneath which there’s a space for you to deposit the three items we’ve discussed earlier. In the background, you can observe Chef busy at work, preparing some tantalizing delicacies!
After completion, those items will be placed in the wok pot, and subsequently, the Chef character will become permanently accessible for your gameplay in the future. Additionally, you’ll gain the ‘Order Up!’ achievement. To play as the Chef, initiate a fresh run and choose them from the character selection menu
The chef’s repertoire of actions is well-regarded for its efficiency and dependability amongst all playable characters, encompassing the following:
- Chef’s Kiss (Passive) – Killing enemies with 2 or more skills cooks them up and drops a healing food item.
- Dice (Primary) – Throw a cleaver through enemies for 250% damage. Use again to recall the cleaver, dealing 375% damage on the return trip.
- Sear (Secondary) – Scorch nearby enemies for 600% damage. Inflicts Burn on targets. Glazed enemies take +75% damage.
- Roll (Utility) – Charge the rolling pin to speed forward, dealing 500-800% damage and Stunning any enemies hit.
- Glaze (Special) – Fire globs of oil in quick succession, dealing 7×200 damage, Slowing and Weakening enemies.
- Yes, Chef! (Special) – Boosts Chef’s regular abilities to make them stronger and changes properties of the attacks.
