How to turn back into Golden Cicada in Black Myth Wukong

As a seasoned adventurer who has traversed the treacherous landscapes of Black Myth Wukong, I must confess that this game has left me utterly bewitched. The transformation mechanic is nothing short of enchanting, and the Golden Cicada form was a particular favorite, allowing me to bypass pesky bosses like the Wandering Wight with ease.

At the onset of Chapter 1 in Black Myth Wukong, you’ll encounter the Guardian of Black Wind Peak. Later, upon reaching the Outer Forest Shrine, this character will change you into a Golden Cicada. We’ll see if there’s an opportunity for you to revert back into a Cicada later on.

Stepping into the latest part of the Forest of Wolves, the dwarf magically metamorphoses me into a Cicada. This is a unique ability he imparts on me to slip past adversaries, especially the elusive Wandering Wight boss who wanders these woods. Sadly, when I shed this Golden Cicada skin and return to my usual monkey form, there’s no way to revert back into the cicada here. Even trying to respawn at the shrine didn’t help, but perhaps we’ll learn this spell later in our gaming journey.

In the near future, you’ll meet the elusive Wandering Wight, a formidable foe that requires careful strategy to defeat. However, if you keep your distance while in Cicada form, you can slip by him unnoticed. If you’ve shifted back to your normal form, you can still sneak past undetected. Wait for the Wandering Wight to walk away from you (as shown in the image above), then make a run to the left. Once you enter the narrow passage, you’ll be out of harm’s way. I’d suggest returning later to engage the boss and collect some awesome loot and points.

In Black Myth Wukong, even though you won’t regain your Golden Cicada form, you can still learn spells to take on different shapes. Nearby, rather than sticking to the main path, veer left and you’ll encounter a colossal meditating wolf, known as Guangzhi (see first image). Master his attack patterns and you’ll likely defeat this boss in just a few tries, if not immediately. Grab his discarded weapon (second image) to obtain the Red Tides spell for your character. With this transformation spell, you can momentarily transform into Guangzhi and employ his unique attack moves.
