In 2027, you’ll see Hiccup and Toothless back on the silver screen! A live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon 2″ is being developed right now, as Universal Pictures revealed at their CinemaCon event this week – a gathering for cinema theater owners.
The movie is scheduled to fly into cinemas on June 11, 2027. At that time, “How to Train Your Dragon 2” will debut a week following the release of Sony’s animated film, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Two months before the June 13th premiere of the live-action “How to Train Your Dragon” sequel, Universal has unveiled the remake for the first time during CinemaCon, receiving positive feedback from the audience.
I can’t contain my enthusiasm for announcing that two years from now, our franchise will bestow upon your cinemas a blockbuster title this summer! This exciting revelation was made on stage at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas by none other than the venerable Dean DeBlois. Accompanying him was Gerard Butler, who brilliantly brings Stoick the Vast to life on screen, and Nico Parker, whose character forms a romantic connection with Stoick’s son.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you all for gracing us with your presence at this world premiere. Your attendance has truly made this event a unique and unforgettable memory for us.
The animated series “How to Train Your Dragon” unfolds in the legendary Viking village of Berk, chronicling the escapades of a skinny outcast teenager named Hiccup. He develops an unusual friendship with an injured dragon he names Toothless, which challenges centuries of enmity between Vikings and dragons, who have been sworn enemies for generations. The story continues five years later, focusing on Hiccup, now 20, and his companions as they confront a madman intent on ruling the world by commandeering a dragon army.
As a cinephile, I had the privilege of watching DeBlois’s masterful direction in the live-action remake of the beloved franchise he also penned – the DreamWorks Animation trilogy: “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010), its sequel in 2014, and the epic conclusion “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World” (2019). Collectively, these cinematic marvels captivated audiences worldwide, raking in an impressive $1.6 billion and garnering a total of four Academy Award nominations.
