How to Solve Wisdom of the Ages Puzzle in Oblivion Remastered

In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through solving the Wisdom of the Ages puzzles found within the dungeons of Oblivion Remastered. These challenges range from simple to downright tricky, with some particularly complex ones like those in Fort Bulwark. Encounter fierce enemies along the way as well!

In this quest, titled “Wisdom of the Ages,” players can embark upon their journey once they’ve encountered Sir Henrik during the “Priory of the Nine” main storyline. Finishing it grants you the “Shield of the Crusader” and some regular treasures. However, keep in mind that solving multiple puzzles is a necessity for its completion.

Wisdom of the Ages Puzzle Solution

The objective of the “Wisdom of the Ages” mission is to retrieve the Shield of the Crusader within Fort Bulwark. Upon accepting the quest, your map will indicate its location. Finding the fort should prove relatively straightforward; however, navigating through it presents a challenge due to traps, Conjurers, and three intricate puzzles. You can only access the Shield of the Crusader by successfully resolving all these riddles. Here are some strategies for tackling each puzzle within the “Wisdom of the Ages” mission in Oblivion Remastered.

Tiles Puzzle

In the initial challenge at Fort Bulwark, there’s a narrow passageway consisting of twelve tiles arranged in three rows. At the end of this passage, you’ll encounter a closed grating that can be opened by pressing specific tiles. It is important to note that for each row, exactly one tile should be pressed.

  • The Leftmost tile of the first row
  • The Middle tile of the second row
  • The Rightmost tile of the third row
  • The leftmost tile of the fourth row

Just step on them in the correct order, and you will be able to explore Fort Bulwark further.

Statues Puzzle

As you delve deeper into the labyrinthine halls, you’ll encounter a chamber adorned with four statues in Oblivion Remastered. These statues are positioned at odd angles. Pay attention to the stone marker on the floor amidst them. To solve this Wisdom of the Ages riddle, rotate all the statues so they all gaze at the ground marker. Players can manipulate each statue by twisting the crank situated at their bases.

Rodger’s Chest puzzle

The final challenge standing between you and the Crusader’s Shield is an extremely tough and puzzling one. Inside this room, you’ll discover a central chest labeled ‘Roger’s’, surrounded by eight regular ones lining the walls. Moreover, near the golden chest, there’s a pressure-sensitive platform displaying a hologram of an item on one of the other chests.

In this game, players need to perform an action eight times: pick an object from Rodger’s trunk and place it into one of the wall-mounted chests (ensure it’s the right one!). However, the chosen object vanishes instantly, so you can’t move it around between normal chests. Additionally, the pressure plate reveals a new image only after you’ve deposited an item in any chest, whether it’s correctly placed or not.

Essentially, this game challenge means that you’re supposed to place items in different boxes multiple times within the remastered version of Oblivion, and keep track of their correct positions as you go. However, to simplify things for you, there’s a helpful tip available below.

The items are arranged to your right, moving in a circular direction as if reading the time on Roger’s watch, beginning from 12 o’clock position.

  • Rodgar’s Stone
  • Rodgar’s Helm
  • Rodgar’s Goblet
  • Rodgar’s Sword
  • Rodgar’s Book
  • Rodgar’s Hammer
  • Rodgar’s Skull
  • Rodgar’s Gem

Whenever you store an object inside its corresponding cabinet, the statue adjacent to it spins. Once you’ve stored all objects, the doorway to the Crusader’s Shield opens up.
