How to skip and rewatch cutscenes in Monster Hunter Wilds

In the game Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s an awesome feature that lets you jump over or replay the cutscenes at any time according to your preference.

In this game, the cutscenes play a significant role, providing insights into the main story and lore, particularly about a character named Nata and his tribe. These scenes are not just ordinary; they are beautifully crafted cinematic moments that offer additional details. Although you can initially bypass them to save time, you always have the option to rewatch any previously unlocked cutscenes later on if you wish to delve deeper into the story.

How to skip cutscenes in Monster Hunter Wilds

Here’s a simpler way to explain it:

On PlayStation 5, if you want to skip a cutscene, don’t worry, it’s easy! If your controller settings are at default, you can simply press the ‘back button’ on your controller or the large touchpad in the middle (which was initially confusing for me). However, if you’re using a keyboard, press the ‘Y’ key to skip a cutscene.

To move past this point, you’ll need to hold down the button for several seconds. In terms of dialogue, however, the choices are quite constrained. Unlike a cutscene, conversations can be made faster but cannot be skipped altogether.

Should you wish, you can temporarily halt the scene by pressing the required keys. To resume playing, simply press those keys once more, and the scene will proceed as normal. Regrettably, there is no option to make the scene play faster; you can either view it in its entirety or skip past it entirely.

How to rewatch a cutscene in Monster Hunter Wilds

Re-viewing a cutscene is just as simple as choosing not to view it initially. Navigate back to Monster Hunter Wilds’ main menu. There, you’ll come across “Gallery” among various other options. The Gallery houses all the cutscenes you encountered during your journey, which you can replay as often as desired.

Instead of fast-forwarding through the cutscenes, I chose to watch them. These scenes aren’t just entertaining by themselves, but they also provide insights into why your Hunter acts as they do and the role Nata plays in the entire narrative of Monster Hunter Wilds.
