How to respec in The First Berserker Khazan

In a game similar to The First Berserker Khazan, known as a Soulslike, having the option to respec your character allows you to experiment with different playstyles or refine one that requires adjustments. Fortunately, in this game, respeccing is unlimited, although you’ll need to understand where and how to access it to make the most of this feature.

How to repec your character in The First Berserker Khazan

To reset The First Berserker Khazan’s skills, you’ll need an item known as the Primeval Regression Orb, which is quite rare. This valuable orb allows you to restore all the Lacrima you’ve invested to reach your current level. When used, your stats will be set back to their initial value of 10. However, depending on your character’s level at the time of using the Orb, you may find yourself with a significant amount of Lacrima – potentially hundreds of thousands or even millions – to spend anew.

Heed this warning: If you pass away without reclaiming your Lacrima when respeccing, it will be lost forever. Therefore, I strongly advise against using a Primeval Regression Orb during missions. Instead, use them in the Crevice adjacent to the Blade Nexus within the main courtyard. By doing so, you can regain your levels and swiftly return to the level-up screen to spend your Lacrima once more, thus avoiding any potential loss.

Where to find Primeval Regression Orbs in The First Berserker Khazan

Rare to find in the wild, Primeval Regression Orbs are. I managed to get one dropped by a random enemy, though it was quite some time back during my gaming session. A simpler alternative is purchasing them from Digor the Bard, who’s found in various missions throughout the game. He usually has three on hand and demands 10,000 Gold for each one.

Fortunately, you can repeatedly obtain Primeval Regression Orbs by interacting with the Bard, purchasing the Orbs, then returning to the Crevice and reloading the area. After a while, his inventory will refresh, allowing you to buy more Orbs. This cycle continues as long as you have Gold available.

You’ll find the Bard in five mission areas:

  • Embars Ruins, on a platform above the first room beyond the Forgotten Temple Entrance Blade Nexus.
  • Skoffa Cave, standing by the lake of acid nearest the Bottom of the Cave Blade Nexus.
  • Rephalan Mountains, down a ladder beyond the Hermit’s Cave Blade Nexus.
  • Rovelion Imperial Theater, standing near a piano in the level’s upper reaches.
  • Capital City Vitalon, nearest the Church Blade Nexus.

Among these five places, Embars Ruins is undeniably my top pick. While you may encounter a handful of dragonkin adversaries initially, they are the least formidable opponents you’ll face. As time goes by and you progress, these foes will become so insignificant that they might as well be non-existent, making farming Primeval Regression Orbs less of a challenge.

Ultimately, once you obtain the Tome of Regression by successfully completing the Observer Bonus Training Challenge, you’ll have the ability to create Ancient Explosive Orbs. To do so, initially, you must come across Observers in the Rephalan Mountains. The challenge requires you to cause an Observer to explode and utilize that explosion to eliminate five additional opponents.

To get a Primeval Regression Orb, return to the blacksmith located in the Crevice with the Tome. There, you can exchange two Transmutation Mist, ten Transmutation Shards, and 2,000 Gold for one orb.

How to respec your combat skills in The First Berserker Khazan

While battling through The First Berserker Khazan, you can access abilities and boosts by navigating the Skill Tree, as you wield one of the three weapon types available. Earned skill points are universal, allowing you to utilize them with any weapon type such as a Spear, Dual Wield, and so on.

To reset a skill in your character, simply hover over the skill you’d like to discard, then press the key assigned as your “Unlearn” bind, which is clearly indicated at the base of the Skill Tree interface. If you’d like to abandon several skills, you can select them from the top of a Skill tree and confirm that you wish to forfeit the extra points when prompted.

You have another option: Press the “Reset All” button to get back all the Skill points you spent on the present Skill section. Once reset, feel free to redistribute these points to fresh Skills for your current weapon or any other you might want to switch to. This process is completely free and unlimited. You can respec your Skills as many times as you wish.

To clarify, resetting your character’s respect and skills does not automatically grant you the familiarity with the weapon you had been using earlier. It would be prudent for you to take on a less challenging mission or encounter in order to become accustomed to your revised setup. If necessary, feel free to respec again.
