As a seasoned Stalker survivor with countless hours under my belt navigating the treacherous terrains of the Zone, I can’t stress enough the importance of maintaining your gear. I’ve seen too many fellow stalkers fall to the dangers lurking within due to a simple malfunctioning weapon or a ripped armor at the most inopportune moments.
Maintaining your equipment in optimal condition is essential for thriving in Stalker 2. Malfunctioning gear may let you down during crucial instances, so here’s a simple guide on ensuring everything runs efficiently.
Have you ever found yourself rifling through an enemy’s belongings, only to realize that their equipment is falling apart or completely broken? Perhaps you’ve fired off so many shots that your weapon has triggered a frustrating alert on the interface.
If that sounds familiar, it’s time to give your weapons and gear some TLC. Here is how to repair gear in Stalker 2.
How to repair gear
To mend your weapons and equipment, it’s essential to enlist the aid of a Technician. You can locate the initial Technician, Lens, by finishing a side mission titled Stalker Wisdom, which is offered by an NPC named Kolya Plaster in Zalissya. He will guide you towards Lens’ location.
In the Lesser Zone, Zalissya serves as the primary hub where you’ll undertake missions such as ‘A Needle in a Haystack’ and ‘Poppy Field’. As you advance through the game, you’ll come across more Technicians, easily identified by the wrench icon on your map. When you locate one, follow these instructions:
- Press Q (or Y on a controller) to open the “Upgrade” screen.
- Select the gear you want to repair from the list on the left.
- Look for the “Repair” option at the bottom right, showing how many coupons it will cost.
- If you have enough coupons, press R (or X on controller) to fix the item.
What to repair
Only weapons and armor have durability, shown by a shield icon. Yellow means slightly worn; red is heavily damaged.
Most traders won’t take items below 40% durability, except Ragman in Rostok, who accepts more battered gear. The lower an item’s durability, the more expensive it is to repair. Fix gear before it drops below 50% to save money.
Keeping your equipment well-maintained on a regular basis ensures that you’ll prevent jamming issues, armor malfunctions, and be more prepared to tackle any threats the Zone may present.
All Technician locations
Here’s where to find every Technician from every faction:
- Lens, in The Lesser Zone
- Sgt. Ivaylov in the Chemical Plant
- Multitool in Cordon
- Screw in Rostok
- Diode in Garbage
- Sgt Khamaruk in Cement Factory
Progressing through the zone and its narrative, you’ll come across more Technicians in further settlements as your journey continues.
In most significant locations, you’ll usually find a Technician, and they are quickly identifiable by the wrench symbol on your map.
