How to Redshirt in College Football 26 Dynasty & Road To Glory

In the world of College Football, teams frequently choose to redshirt certain players, offering them an additional year of eligibility. However, this decision carries both advantages and disadvantages that could potentially benefit or hinder your institution in the future. There are instances where you might be compelled to redshirt a player, or perhaps you aspire to get redshirted as part of Road To Glory, extending your playtime by an extra year. Consequently, we’ve prepared a tutorial on how to manage redshirts within College Football 26’s Dynasty and Road To Glory modes.

How Do You Redshirt Players in College Football 26?

In both Dynasty and Road to Glory gaming modes, the strategy of redshirting players is applicable. If a player has minimal or no game time, they become eligible to extend their collegiate career by an additional year. For instance, if you’ve recruited a promising two-star or three-star prospect but don’t have room for them to start immediately, you can redshirt them to provide them with an extra year of development.

However, you must always consider the following when Redshirting a player:

  • Players can only be redshirted once & if they appear in four games or less
  • Freshman players who appear in four games or less automatically get redshirted (both Dynasty & Road To Glory)
  • Redshirting a player may affect their status with the team (Dynasty only)

How to Redshirt a player in Dynasty

In College Football’s “Dynasty Mode,” you have the option to “hold back” a player from active gameplay by using the “Redshirt” feature in the team section’s menu. This feature allows you to preserve a season of eligibility for any eligible player. If a player’s name appears grayed out, it means they have already used their Redshirt year.

As a gamer, I’d say: Be careful when holding back top-tier or sought-after players through redshirting. If a player is eager for playing time and finds themselves on the bench, they might consider transferring. So, it’s wise to redshirt those who aren’t quite ready to hit the field just yet.

How to Redshirt in Road To Glory Mode

In the “Road To Glory” mode of College Football, your rookie player should participate in no more than four games during their first college season.

As a fresh-off-the-boat gamer entering the league, my playing time might be limited during my rookie season due to my position and rating. However, if I find myself lower down on the team’s depth chart, there’s a chance they’ll give me a few plays here and there. To dodge this situation, I need to pick a school that won’t start me in my first year.

For instance, a large college football program such as Georgia could be interested in you as a backup quarterback or even someone who doesn’t play much at all during their first season. Regardless of how well you perform in your debut year, you will automatically receive an extra year due to redshirting. However, it can be challenging to predict where you’ll stand on the team’s depth chart.

During your high school journey, you’ll have the opportunity to view each school’s perspective of you from the School List menu. Additionally, you can access more details about their current roster, including where you might be placed should you decide to join them upon signing.

If you bypass high school, it significantly increases the difficulty. To boost your chances of playing for your preferred schools, we advise engaging in The High School Experience. This experience provides opportunities to enhance your skills and impress potential colleges. Skipping high school means relying solely on your initial skill rating.

Redshirting is useful if you need to:

  • Build Coach Trust
  • Earn XP, Level Up, and spend Skill Points
  • Build your Brand
  • Focus on Academics

Having a high trust level with your Coach Trust significantly impacts game day performance. It provides you with additional play options, pre-play features, and enhances your control over both offense and defense. Notably, a higher coach trust increases the likelihood of retaining your starting position or engaging in competitive position battles.

In College Football 26 RTG, your Player Ratings improve as you accumulate Skill Points, which you earn by progressing through levels. Thus, the longer you sustain your gaming career, the greater the amount of Experience Points (XP) you can amass.

During your redshirt season, you might also get Brand Deals, which bring extra benefits such as followers, skill points, and so on. But remember, it requires energy points to seal these deals.

As a passionate fan, I must admit that redshirting has its limitations. For instance, even after redshirting an entire season, you might not secure a starting position. Nevertheless, the good news is that we have the Transfer Portal at our disposal. If the Bulldogs aren’t ready to give me a chance, I can always sign with Alabama next year and make them wish they hadn’t underestimated me!

In summary, here’s a comprehensive overview of the College Football 26 manual, designed to clarify the workings of the game within both Dynasty and Road to Glory modes. We wish you the best as you embark on writing your team’s historical success story!
