The Zombies mode in Call of Duty began as a simple extra game in Call of Duty: World at War, but it quickly developed its own detailed storyline over the following games. What started as an Easter egg became the central plot for the Zombies experience in Call of Duty, and Black Ops 7 continues that tradition. Ready to jump in and learn how to play?
The new Zombies map in Black Ops 7 is called Ashes of the Damned. Although players have had early access, the main Easter Egg isn’t unlocked yet. It will become available at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (6:00 PM UTC) on November 14th, 2025. But you can still get a head start by beginning preparations now.
First, you’ll need to fix a truck called Ol’ Tessie, which is broken down near where you start in Janus Towers Plaza. To get it running, you’ll collect Essence to unlock the Security Room and get T.E.D.D.’s head. Attaching it to the truck will upgrade it, letting you drive it. Once you have the truck working, you can travel to Blackwater Lake and Vandorn Farm to clear the generators of the reddish growth and restore power. Finally, repeat this process in Ashwood, the central area of the map, which will allow you to add a Pack-a-Punch upgrade to the truck.
