Initially launched in early access in 2019, Splitgate quickly gained popularity by merging Halo’s shooting mechanics with Portal’s teleportation features. However, despite an impressive debut, the number of players decreased over time. Consequently, developers decided to retire it in 2022 to concentrate on creating a complete sequel instead.

The Splitgate 2 beta goes live on Thursday, May 22, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST.

The Open Beta continues indefinitely until the formal launch of Splitgate; however, there’s no specific release date yet, only a broad release window during summer.

How to play Splitgate 2 Open Beta

Because Splitgate 2 is currently in open beta testing, you won’t have to pre-register or sign up for anything to start playing it. Once the game goes live, you can simply find and download it from your platform’s digital store, and you’ll be ready to jump into the action!

Platforms

You can grab Splitgate 2 across various platforms like PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers (PC). It’s accessible on Steam and the Epic Games Store for a seamless download.

According to a post on Twitter by the developers on March 3rd, the Nintendo Switch 2 will not initially release as a handheld device on June 6th. However, they hinted that it may become available later on!

Is there crossplay?

Absolutely! Splitgate 2 supports cross-platform gaming, which means you can join forces with friends regardless of the platform they’re using. In fact, the original Splitgate did have crossplay, and this feature was showcased during the Open Alpha of Splitgate 2 in March.
