After the disappointing release of Modern Warfare 2 Remastered without its iconic multiplayer mode, the H2M Mod brings hope to fans like me.
As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that when we reminisce about the finest Call of Duty games, the original Modern Warfare 2 consistently takes the crown alongside other classic titles from yesteryears. If you remember correctly, the Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was unveiled not too long ago, but it only offered the Campaign mode initially. However, the multiplayer experience was missing until the H2M mod came along. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you install it.
As a long-time fan of Modern Warfare series, I’m thrilled to share with you how I play Modern Warfare 2 Remastered Multiplayer using the H2M Mod. Here’s my personal take:
- Purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (2017) on Steam if you don’t already own the game. It often goes on sale so be on the lookout for those deals.
- Once you own the game, install Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered – Multiplayer from your Steam Library.
- Launch the game and disable the Cache Shaders option in the graphics settings. If you get this prompt on the game launch, reject it. Doing so is important as MW Remastered faces some problems when the shader cache is enabled, so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
- Finally, install the H2M-Mod Launcher to apply the MW2 Multiplayer Remastered mod and play the game.

What is the H2M Mod? Trailer, release date, & platforms
The H2M-Mod (short for H2 Multiplayer Mod) is a custom client specifically designed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. When it’s released on August 16, 2024, this mod will enable players to revisit the authentic multiplayer experience of Modern Warfare 2, originally launched years ago. Impressively, the developers have successfully transferred over the weapon models and maps from the remastered version of Modern Warfare 2 into Modern Warfare Remastered, resulting in a harmonious integration that closely mirrors the original games.
Upon the debut of H2M Mod, players can anticipate access to more than 50 playable maps, which encompass the initial ones from Modern Warfare Remastered and Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, along with a selection of custom maps sourced from the campaign of MW2 Remastered. Additionally, you’ll find a combat class equipped with weapons hailing from both games, alongside the iconic MW2 killstreak bonuses. Last but not least, the traditional progression system featuring ranks, camouflages, calling cards, and emblems will be retained for an engaging gaming experience.
Regrettably, console users won’t get to enjoy this mod since it’s exclusively designed for PC and won’t be accessible on Xbox or PlayStation consoles.
