How to Get Vault Cores & Fast Travel in RuneScape Dragonwilds!

In the bustling environment of Dragonwilds within RuneScape, you’ll find essential natural resources that significantly ease your journey, and among these, nothing stands out quite like Vault Cores.

You’ll discover these triangular-shaped stones exclusively within perilous Dragonkin Vaults; they play a crucial role in enabling swift travel. However, don’t worry about having to wait too long to acquire some of them.

Actually, upon landing at Ashenfall, Vault Cores can be acquired straightaway if you know the right spots. Once you’ve gathered the initial pair, navigating Dragonwilds’ map becomes significantly smoother.

Where to find Vault Cores

Vault Cores exclusively appear within Dragonkin Vaults scattered throughout Ashenfall, and it’s quite unexpected that the nearest one is relatively near your initial landing spot on the island.

After encountering Doric in the Temple Woods, the dwarf who guides you through finding sustenance and crafting your initial homemade weapon during the tutorial in Dragonwilds, simply head along the main road heading East. When the path splits, take the right fork. Continue on this trail until its end to discover the first Dragonkin Vault.

Vault Cores needed to craft Lodestones are found in Dragonkin Ruins.

Within the Vault, you’ll encounter a sequence of fundamental challenges such as puzzles, dangerous traps, and perilous obstacles like colossal rats and Vault defenders.

In this way, the sentence is made clearer and easier to understand while maintaining its original meaning.

Luckily, if you find yourself unprepared, you can choose to outrun enemies to discover your initial Vault Core at the end of the dungeon. For those who are daring, pulling the lever nearby will open the room housing the boss, offering a chance to acquire an additional Vault Core. However, be aware that defeating its protector could prove challenging based on your equipment.

If you were to pass away, a grave holding all your belongings would appear outside the Vault, giving you multiple chances to try again whenever you’d like.

Building Lodestones

As a gamer, I’ll share my experience: The moment I grab my first Vault Core, I’ll automatically figure out how to craft Lodestones. With some exceptions (like only being able to set them in the overworld), I can build these bad boys anywhere I fancy! Once placed on the map, these magical stones allow for near-instant teleportation between each stone I’ve set up.

The following materials are required for each Lodestone:

  • Stone x32
  • Rune Essence x20
  • Vault Core x1
The crafting recipe for Lodestones will be automatically unlocked after obtaining your first Vault Core.

How to get more Vault Cores

On the current map of Dragonwilds, there are seven Dragonkin Vaults. Each one holds additional Vault Cores. For your convenience, we’ve placed markers on the enclosed map to guide you. However, take heed – some of these vaults have been overrun by particularly formidable adversaries.

Adventuring up North in Ashenfall gets progressively challenging, with enemies growing tougher as I journey further. The two Vaults nestled within Bramblemead, Dragonwilds’ initial territory, along with the solitary Vault on the Eastern border of the Whispering Swamp, offer a good stash of Cores to kickstart my adventure.

You now have all the essential information about Vault Cores, but keep in mind that they are not the only crucial materials you should pay attention to in Dragonwilds. Sandstone and granite are highly valuable natural resources, and you will require certain materials to create the formidable Abyssal Whip.
