How to get the Repellent in Blue Prince – Foundation location guide
The Item with a Handy Feature works this way: When you possess it, you can tap ‘X’ within a specific room in the mansion. This action temporarily excludes that room from the manor and your selection of rooms for a period of one week.
Hey there, fellow game enthusiast! Just a heads-up, this trick doesn’t apply everywhere – for instance, the Entrance Hall and Antechamber are invincible to its influence. However, it turns out to be quite handy when you factor in another permanent element of your mansion: The Foundation. So, keep that in mind while exploring!
To put it simply, at present, The Repellent is the unique strategy for shifting the Blue Prince’s Foundation.
Repellent locations
There are two ways to obtain the Repellent in Blue Prince:
- Lost and Found – Since the Repellent is a rare item, it has a low chance of appearing in the Lost and Found:
- The Lost and Found is an unlockable Floorplan in the game.
- You lose two items from your inventory each time you enter it, so watch out.
- Foundation (outer room) – Alternatively, you can draft the Foundation as an outer room. Here’s how:
- Unlock the West Gate Path by opening the Garage Door and removing the latch from the gate.
- Draft the Shrine as an outer room and get the Blessing of the Monk, which allows you to draft manor rooms as outer rooms if you end the day in them.
- End the day while inside the Foundation area.
- The next day, draft the Foundation as an outer room.
Since the Foundation is a fixed location that doesn’t change, it will consistently show up as an option for outer rooms. Fortunately, Mrs. Babbage will place a letter in the Foyer to acknowledge your unique drafting approach. Additionally, she’ll put a Repellent on the table.
Using the Repellent on the Foundation temporarily removes it from the game for a full week. Once that time passes, you’ll find it back in your drafting pool, allowing you to place it in a new location.
Why should you move the Foundation?
It might be beneficial to relocate the Foundation in Blue Prince because the current location could be less than ideal. For instance, if it’s positioned beyond row/rank 6, it’s closer to Room 46 or the Antechamber, but you’d need to create a pathway to it. Since this room is permanent and doesn’t reset, dealing with its placement can become troublesome in later runs due to randomization or RNG effects.
In the end, it’s your call. If traveling a longer distance to reach a Foundation proves challenging or tiresome, you might want to think about using the Repellent as an alternative solution.
