As a veteran gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that the world of Pokemon TCG Pocket has never ceased to surprise me. The latest addition to this digital treasure trove is the enigmatic Flair, a feature that adds a touch of sparkle and personality to your cards.
In the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), players amass various types of in-game currencies. Yet, converting Shinedust to Flair can be a bit confusing, leaving many gamers unsure about the purpose of Flair.
Instead of the traditional, physical board game version, Pokémon TCG Pocket features unique options to customize your cards. Although it may require some time to activate, Flair offers a personalized touch to the cards included in an active deck.
Below is everything to know about obtaining Flair, and how to use it once you’ve unlocked it.
What is Flair?
In the world of Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), “Flair” refers to a decorative layer that can be attached to cards. This addition brings about various visual enhancements such as shimmering effects, elemental attack animations, or unique visuals when the card is played on the field.
In a fight, this animation will automatically play when the card is in action. But remember, Flair needs to be added to every single card before it can be utilized. So if you own four Ponyta cards, you’ll need to buy Flair for all of them individually to ensure each one functions effectively during gameplay.
How to obtain Flair in Pokemon TCG Pocket
In the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) Pocket, players can acquire Flair by exchanging certain quantities of Shinedust and extra cards. Players obtain Shinedust by either opening card packs or accomplishing tasks.
To obtain Flair, follow these steps:
- Tap the card icon on the menu bar at the bottom of the app (it is the second icon)
- Select a card that you have at least five of
- Tap “Obtain Flair”
- Select the type of Flair you want, and the tap “exchange”
It is important to note that players will have to purchase the Gold cosmetic before accessing the other Flair options for a card. This always costs three extra cards and 50 Shinedust.
It is also critical to remember that extra cards exchanged for Flair are permanently removed from your inventory. This means they can’t be used to build decks.
Once you acquire the Gold Flair, you’ll discover three additional features. These will require an extra three cards and have an elevated Shinedust price tag. It’s important to note that these features are purely aesthetic, offering no combat benefits. However, owning this rare embellishment on a captivating Charizard can serve as a badge of honor, symbolizing the collector’s dedication to amassing enough cards to warrant trading for a touch of glamour.
Is using Flair worth it?
As a new gamer, I’d say that Flairs aren’t really beneficial at the beginning of the game. However, once you’ve got a good collection of cards under your belt and have been playing for some time, using them to customize your deck with Flairs can be quite enjoyable. Just remember, when starting out, it’s more important to focus on building up your card collection for missions and battles rather than burning those cards for visual cosmetics right away.
As a gamer, when swapping cards for Flair in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, ensure that the Pokémon card you’re parting with isn’t crucial in multiple decks. Also, double-check that this decision won’t disrupt the balance of any deck you might be utilizing for Pocket Battle missions, as unbalanced decks could lead to unexpected outcomes in gameplay.
