In Elden Ring Nightreign, an abundance of weaponry and talents lead to diverse character builds. However, upon completion of each adventure, any equipment and level gains are wiped out, effectively restarting your character from scratch for the following journey.
In the game “Nightreign“, you have the option to personalize builds by employing artifacts known as Relics. These artifacts provide passive advantages that remain active throughout Expeditions, and they can be exchanged during different playthroughs. This tutorial covers the basics of Relics in “Nightreign“, including how to swap and sell them, as well as how to adjust your Character’s Vessel and Relic slots to optimize each character’s initial configuration.
What Are Relics In Nightreign?
In the game Elden Ring Nightreign, relics offer permanent advantages to your characters that persist throughout every playthrough. Unlike other games where you might lose these items upon completion, here you are given new relics at the end of each expedition, regardless of whether you manage to defeat the Nightlord or not. These acquired relics can then be equipped in the Roundtable Hold to bestow beneficial passive abilities on your characters.
In the main area of Roundtable Hold, seek out the blue-colored Relic Rites station, which is next to the Expedition table and slightly to the right of the corridor heading towards the Small Jar Bazaar. Engage with it to adjust your current selection of Relics.
You can swap between characters by tabbing between menus at the top of the Relic Rites screen.
Initially, every character starts off with a single container, known as a Vessel, that has three sections or slots, each distinguished by unique colors. Each artifact, or Relic, corresponds to a specific color – red, blue, green, yellow, or transparent (colorless) – and can only be placed in a slot within the Vessel that shares the same color. Colorless slots have the ability to accommodate any type of Relic, but they are not as common.
In various sizes, from tiny to big, you’ll find distinct Relics. The bigger the Relic, the more passive advantages it provides. You’re free to trade one Relic for another between playthroughs, allowing you to customize your bonuses according to your strategy. For instance, one Relic could bestow Fire damage on your initial weapon, a boon against specific Nightlords and Nightreign bosses, while another might offer a unique synergy with your character’s abilities, proving beneficial across all playthroughs.
How To Get More Relics In Nightreign
For additional Relics in Nightreign, players can choose among these three methods: embark on Expeditions, visit the Small Jar Marketplace, or accomplish Remembrance missions.
- Whenever you complete an Expedition, whether you kill the Nightlord or not, you will get a certain number of Relics as a reward (in addition to Murk). The number and quality of Relics depends on how far you made it into the Expedition.
- If you defeat a Nightlord, you will get six Relics of a high rarity and size, as well as a massive amount of Murk. If you die before the first night, you will get three low-tier Relics and a small amount of Murk.
- Defeating a Nightlord for the first time will always reward a unique Nightlord Relic.
- You can also get Relics at the Small Jar Bazaar. At first, only small Relics are available, but as you continue to defeat Nightlords, more powerful options will open up. Eventually, when you roll credits, you will be able to purchase tailored Relics for each character from the Small Jar Bazaar.
- You can also buy the Scenic Flatstone item for 600 Murk. This will create a random Relic after purchase with random effects, color, and size. This can be found at the very bottom of the Small Jar Bazaar menu.
- Completing most Remembrance quests for each character will reward a tailored Relic that typically enhances a character’s ability. For example, completing the first Wylder Remembrance quest will reward a Relic that enhances your Follow-Up Attacks with the Claw Shot.
- Check the Journal in between the Study (Gideon Ofnir’s room) and the Library (the Dung Eater’s room) to find Remembrances.
How To Equip & Sell Relics In Nightreign
To swap your present Relic setup, navigate to the Relic Rites station located within the Roundtable Hold. Nearby, you’ll find a blue table; interact with it to access the Relic Rites interface. Here, you’ll see your current character’s Vessel and a catalog of relics you possess on the screen’s right side.
In order to use Relics in Nightreign, players can either choose a Relic from the provided list and put it in its designated spot or opt for one of their color-coded Vessel slots. These slots will only show Relics compatible with that specific slot. Then, browse through your list and insert Relics that match both the character and the color of your Vessel.
It’s a good idea to fill all three Relic slots in your Vessel. If you don’t have Relics that perfectly suit your character, don’t worry. You can still benefit from small stat boosts and passive abilities by equipping something in every slot.
In addition to Nightreign, you can also offload any excess Relics you have. If you’ve amassed more Relics than you need and wish to declutter, you can exchange them for Murk, which can be used to purchase new skins, gestures, and other items. To do this, navigate to the far-right of the character tabs within the Relic Rites menu where you’ll find a “Sell” tab. Once there, select the Relics you wish to sell, then press the right analog stick to confirm the transaction.
This method is great for accumulating more Murk (for purchasing additional Relics or unveiling character costumes), as well as organizing an overcrowded Relic collection.
Using this technique will help increase your Murk (for buying more Relics or revealing character outfits) and tidy up a disordered Relic stash.
How To Get New Vessels & Change Slot Colors
Each character begins with a fundamental Vessel that usually caters to their character type. While passive abilities can randomly appear in variously colored Relics, they often have specific color associations – physically oriented abilities are commonly linked with red, while those related to sorcery and incantations are typically associated with blue, and so on.
In this case, you might encounter a Relic beneficial for a character who can’t use it with their standard Vessel color setup. To obtain Vessels with adjustable color slots, players of the game Nightreign have two choices: they can buy new Vessels from the Small Jar Bazaar or earn them as rewards for completing specific Remembrance quests.
- As you progress through the game and finish Expeditions, more Vessels will become available from the Small Jar Bazaar.
- Eventually, you can also unlock two Relics that all characters can use, which feature all Yellow and all Green slots.
- Every character has at least one Vessel that can be unlocked by completing Remembrance quests. Follow each character’s story in the Journal and complete Remembrances to earn alternate Vessels for each character.
- These tend to unlock with completion of the first or second Remembrance objective. When playing as Wylder Nightreign players will earn a new Vessel after the second personal objective.
As a fervent enthusiast, I’d like to guide you on how to exchange your current Relic. Navigate to the Vessels menu on the home screen for each character. You have the flexibility to outfit Relics across various Vessels, although a symbol indicates if a Relic is already assigned to a Vessel. Swapping it to another Vessel won’t unbind it from its current location. This feature proves particularly beneficial when it comes to potent Nightlord relics, which can bestow advantageous traits across several characters, such as the capacity to share Sacred Flask uses.
