How to drain the Fountain in Blue Prince

To empty the Fountain, you’ll want to utilize the Pump House. This is where you can manipulate spaces, including larger items, that have been submerged in water.

How to reach the Pump Room?

To access the Pump Room, you should initially design a Swimming Pool within your estate. If you incorporate a Pool into your daily activities, then on that specific day, the addition of the Pump Room, Sauna, and Locker Room becomes available as part of the plan.

How does the Pump Room work?

Before emptying the Fountain in Blue Prince, take some time to get acquainted with the design of the Control Room first. You’ll spot two primary tanks – Tanks 1 and 2, along with an additional one that you can disregard temporarily. There are also three pumps, each with a lever, positioned in front of the main tanks – the left pump is Pump 1, the middle one is Pump 2, and the right one is Pump 3. At the back of the room, there’s another tank, referred to as Pump 4.

As a gamer, I control the flow of water by manipulating the lever switches: lowering them causes water to flood the locations, while lifting them drains the excess back into storage. To prevent the pumps from functioning on their own, it’s important to keep the levers in their neutral position (centered).

There’s a control panel displaying various rooms, each with an option to either add or remove water. Simply press the button for the desired room to adjust its water level. This is done by operating the pumps that are linked to each room.

  • Fountain – Pump 2.
  • Reservoir – Pump 2.
  • Aquarium – Pump 1.
  • Kitchen – Pump 4.

In conclusion, don’t forget to check out the switch situated in the room’s back corner by Pump 4. It gives you the ability to choose between using Tank 1 or Tank 2 when fine-tuning the water levels.

Fountain solution and where does it lead?

Consider the Blue Prince Pump Room Puzzle as similar to a mathematical problem. If you examine the control panel, there are tiny marks (pips) indicating water levels. Specifically, the Fountain has 12 blue pips because it’s currently full. Our goal is to reduce this count to zero, which means draining the Fountain. Let me explain how:

1. First, we observe the current state of the Fountain.
2. Next, we identify the pump that can drain water from the Fountain.
3. Then, we activate the chosen pump to slowly empty some water from the Fountain.
4. After each pump operation, we check the number of blue pips in the Fountain.
5. We continue this process until all the blue pips are gone (i.e., the Fountain is drained).

  • Drain the Fountain partially using the middle pump. You can use both tanks as well by flipping the switch at the back.
  • Use the water to fill up other locations, such as the Kitchen (-3 levels), Greenhouse (-4 levels), and Pool (-1 level).
  • This leaves you with +4 levels/pips for the Fountain.
  • You can then continue to drain the water into the tanks and leaving it at that.

After emptying the Fountain at Blue Prince, you can explore the area beyond the manor. Following these steps will lead you straight to the Underground.

In my gaming adventure, if I leave the Fountain dry in subsequent playthroughs, it’s because I haven’t messed with the settings in the Pump Room. Should I ever wish to tinker with anything, like adjusting settings for other locations, I’ve got to set up the Pump Room all over again.
