It’s usually the debut of fresh Dynamax Pokemon, but the awe-inspiring Gigantamax versions have been popping up approximately every two months thus far.
Following the appearance of the Gigantamax Kanto starters, Lapras, and Kingler, it’s now Snorlax’s turn to transform into a Gigantamax form.
Gigantamax Snorlax weaknesses in Pokemon Go
In its pure Normal form, Gigantamax Snorlax is vulnerable exclusively to moves of the Fighting type. Although it might appear limiting for players, there are several exceptional Pokemon that can effectively counter it.
Remember, Gigantamax Snorlax is immune to Ghost-type attacks. Therefore, refrain from employing any Ghost-type moves during the battle and steer clear of bringing Ghost-type Pokémon into the fray.
Remember that only fellow Gigantamax or Dynamax Pokemon are eligible in Max Battles.
Gigantamax Snorlax best counters
Despite being relatively fresh additions to the game, there are several effective Fighting-type picks that can successfully defeat G-Max Snorlax.
Among the top picks are Dynamax Machamp, Passimian, and Falinks, since they are capable of exploiting Gigantamax Snorlax’s sole vulnerability.
If you’re finding yourself short on a Fighting-type Pokémon, don’t forget that during the Max Battle Raid Day, there will be a free Timed Research up for grabs! Completing this research task will reward you with an encounter featuring Dynamax Machop. Once evolved into Machamp, you can take on the Kanto sleeper in battle!
Furthermore, it’s wise to have some Gigantamax options at hand, since they inflict significantly greater damage compared to their Dynamax alternatives.
How to get Gigantamax Snorlax in Pokemon Go
On the special day of Max Battle, which is set for Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in your local timezone, Gigantamax Snorlax will make its entrance. During this period, you’ll encounter a 6-Star Max Battle boss, which is none other than the G-Max Snorlax!
Remember that unlike ordinary Raids, Max Battles are exclusive face-to-face encounters, so Remote Raid Passes won’t work. Moreover, instead of appearing in regular Gyms, Gigantamax and Dynamax battles take place only at designated Power Spots.
In order to engage in a Gigantamax battle, players need to spend 800 Max Particles. These can be obtained by visiting Power Spots every day. If you don’t manage to defeat the Max Battle boss, the Max Particles will automatically be returned so you can give it another go.
It’s important to mention that these unique beings can’t be captured in their colossal shapes, thus, once you’ve defeated Gigantamax Snorlax, trainers will get an opportunity to attempt catching a standard Snorlax with the Gigantamax capacity.

The primary distinctions between a typical one and a Shiny version lie in their color schemes: the body is noticeably darker in hue, and the tree emblazoned on its abdomen transforms from a lush green during the summer months to an autumnal orange.
