For the upcoming weeks, players can join Liquidators Expedition 14 in No Man’s Sky, which comes packed with thrilling rewards such as a new Chitin Flight Pack. However, some gamers may face challenges in completing the Metamorphosis milestone during the second stage. In this article, we will guide you on how to spawn a Brood Mother by crushing a foul grub and how this can aid in Infestation missions throughout this Expedition’s various phases.
How to Crush a Vile Grub in NMS
1. During Phase 2 Metamorphosis, one of your tasks involves squashing a foul larva. These pests are common on planets overrun by Vile Broods. To confirm their existence, just pass over a planet while in space, scan it, and search for the message: ‘Vile Brood Detected’.
On a contaminated planet, locate a Juicy Grub using your Visor. It will be represented as a red icon with a wiggling larva. To collect it, remember you’ll require the Haz-Mat Gauntlets (earned by finishing the Infestation Alpha milestone from phase 1) for interaction.
Go ahead and check your inventory now and smash the bug that appears. Brace yourself for an instant clash with the Brood Mother who will emerge next. After her defeat, you’ll get a message signifying the completion of the milestone. Don’t forget to collect your rewards in the Expedition tab. This mission awards you with Personal Forcefield Blueprints, a top-notch Hazard Shield Enhancement, and 256 units of Runaway Mould.
It’s important to note that simply killing the grub with your weapon won’t complete the milestone. You must crush it in your inventory to trigger a Brood Mother encounter. This tip is especially useful for players struggling with the ‘Purge the Site’ Infestation milestones in each phase of Expedition 14. If you’re having trouble spawning the Brood Mother, locate and crush a Juicy Grub. You don’t need to defeat the boss from this site; any location on the same planet will work.
