In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, you have several options for weapons to battle your foes, including melee, ranged, or magic ones. The game starts off by providing a melee weapon, as it’s the most common type among the three. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t provide much guidance on how to obtain the other two types – specifically, players may wonder how they can acquire a bow and arrows for ranged combat in RuneScape: Dragonwilds.
Let’s discuss the process of making a bow and the process of making arrows, which will provide you with different weapon options when engaging in combat.

How to craft a bow in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
In Dragonwilds, having a bow is crucial right from the start because it’s essential for finishing some early main quests that involve gathering deer antlers.
Crafting a bow isn’t overly complex, but it’s not included among the beginner recipes on the crafting table. Instead, you need to establish a Spinning Wheel at your base as a crafting station. Here are the resources needed to build a Spinning Wheel:
* 5 Wood Planks
* 3 Stone Blocks
* 2 Rope (can be made by combining 3 Fiber with a Workbench)
- x12 Ash Logs
- x4 Flax
- x2 Stone
You’ll find Ash Logs and Stone items in your inventory, but you may need to venture out and gather Flax. Fortunately, the Bramblemead Valley region offers an abundance of this material, as it is scattered throughout a ruined town nearby. You can identify Flax by its blue flowers that thrive in grassy areas.
To operate a spinning wheel effectively, it is advisable to position it under some form of shelter, whether that’s your main structure (base) or a separate roof found anywhere in the world. It’s not necessary to build a full base; simply creating a covered area will suffice for this purpose.
Once you’ve positioned the Spinning Wheel, your next step is to insert either Flax or Coarse Animal Fur into the wheel. This action results in the creation of Coarse Thread. Producing Coarse Thread just once will give you access to several crafting recipes. One of these new recipes is for the Ash Shortbow, which you can now manufacture at a crafting station.
The Ash Shortbow requires the following resources to craft:
- x12 Ash Logs
- x3 Coarse Thread
How to craft arrows in RuneScape: Dragonwilds
Since you now possess the Ash Shortbow, let’s move on to creating arrows for it. You see, a bow functions best when equipped with its projectiles.
Stone arrows
Upon approaching your workbench, you’ll notice a fresh section with two types of arrows now available for creation. The first is Stone Arrows, which possess a power level of one, making them less potent but still effective in their purpose. To manufacture Stone Arrows, you’ll need the following resources:
- x1 Stone
- x1 Feather
- x1 Ash Log
In the game RuneScape, feathers can be obtained from various birds (like chickens) that you come across on your adventures. These birds can be discovered in diverse locations across the map, such as the dilapidated town nestled within Bramblemead Valley, where flax is also found.
Fang arrows
Besides creating Stone Arrows, you can also manufacture Fang Arrows, boasting a power level of 2, making them the top choice for overall damage. To produce Fang Arrows, here are the necessary materials:
1. Three Wood Shavings
2. Two Bone Fragments
3. One Venom Sac (obtained from defeated enemies)
4. One Arrow Shaft
- x1 Ash Log
- x1 Feather
- x1 Small Animal Fang
In the game RuneScape, small animal fangs can be obtained when you defeat certain enemy creatures, including giant rats. These rats are distributed throughout the world of RuneScape, but they are particularly abundant near a ruined windmill in the north of Temple Woods, specifically in areas like Dragonwilds.
As a dedicated RuneScape enthusiast, I can’t help but highlight an intriguing detail about the resources we’ve discussed. Each of these resources yields 33 Fang Arrows, meaning if you decide to create three sets for a Fang Arrow stockpile, you’re essentially crafting a whopping 99 arrows! At first glance, it may seem like quite a quantity, but remember, in the Dragonwilds of RuneScape, ammunition can fly by faster than you might expect. So, it’s always wise to ensure you have enough before embarking on a major adventure.
Once you’ve got your bow and arrows prepared, simply pull out your bow by selecting it from your inventory and then click the right mouse button to take aim with your bow. While aiming, press the left mouse button to release an arrow. The more time spent aiming, the greater the force and precision behind each arrow.
In RuneScape’s Dragonwilds, unlike other skills, there is no way to advance your Ranged skill at this moment. This feature will be added later during the early access phase, as detailed in the game’s roadmap, which you can access from the main menu.
