Regardless if it’s a name that has been with you for many years or a new, playful one, your nickname serves as a way for people to recognize you when using the Nintendo Switch 2. This means your friends will search for this nickname on their friend list if they want to play a game together or view your gaming activities. However, if you wish to modify your Switch 2 nickname, it can be done as well.
Luckily for me as a gamer, modifying my nickname on Nintendo Switch 2 is quite straightforwardif I can locate the right settings. What’s more, this adjustment won’t disrupt my profile significantly, ensuring that my friends can still find me using their usual methods. However, it would be wise to inform them about my new handle, naturally.
How to change your nickname on Switch 2
On Nintendo Switch 2, you have a couple of options to modify your nickname. Initially, you’ll need to tap on your profile picture located in the upper left corner of the main screen.
To modify your nickname for the first time, navigate to the ‘Profile’ section, then find the prominent banner located on the right side of the screen. It’s there where you can update either your icon or nickname.
Another option is to navigate to the bottom of this page where you’ll find the User Settings. From there, you can locate and adjust your nickname within the menu provided.
No matter which method you opt for when revising your username, remember that the Switch 2 only allows usernames of up to 10 characters. This means you might have to shorten any longer names. Alternatively, you could simply use your first name if you don’t mind people recognizing it. You can find a solution that works best for you!
