In the main districts of the game Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, there are numerous side paths for you to discover, providing opportunities to upgrade or experiment with your character setup. Some of these hidden paths even contain challenging boss battles that could be overlooked if you’re not aware of their locations.
Regardless of your skill level, it’s possible for optional bosses to reward NPC quest items, spells, or equipment. One such optional boss that players can encounter is Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu, located approximately near Shu Sanctum. However, reaching this boss might be a lengthy journey if you’re unsure of the exact route. Here’s a guide on how to find and defeat Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu, your first optional boss.
Where to Find Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
To locate your boss, begin at the Shu Sanctum Shrine. Once there, take the exit opposite the shrine, which leads outside. You’ll notice a ladder on your right; climb it. On the roof, move towards the back-right corner to find another ladder. Cross the bridge, and you’ll spot a ladder to your left of the bridge. Descend this ladder, and you’ll reach a lower platform. Facing the edge, look to your left to find yet another ladder that will bring you back down to ground level.
Ahead lies a prolonged path that leads you to a crossroads where the right-hand route features stairs, two dogs, and an adversary wielding a firearm. If you ascend the stairs and proceed along the leftward path, you’ll reach the village. Alternatively, if you continue straight down the main road, you’ll encounter a formidable enemy with a cannon. Defeat them, then turn around and gaze to your left to spot a ramp that leads up onto the rooftops. To your left, there will be a ladder providing access to the rooftop on the other side of the blocked road.
Keep moving forward on the rooftop to locate a ladder that leads down to the main road, now situated beyond the barricade. After descending, simply walk straight along the road until you encounter a stairway leading to a big wooden gate where the boss is stationed. Before confronting the boss, take the path to your right, which will provide a shortcut back to Shu Santum. This detour is beneficial as it ensures an easier route back to the nearest shrine in case of death.
How to Beat Gluttonous Monstrosity Lu Hongliu in Wuchang Fallen Feathers
- Bring a fast weapon type.
- Upgrade your endurance as much as possible.
- Bring items that cure corruption.
- Wear armor that boosts corruption resistance but also has great slash resistance.
Lu Hongliu excels in speed, even during the initial phase. It has a wide-range attack that targets from behind, but it’s usually better to dodge and position yourself at the back of the boss. The attacks from behind are less potent compared to the front end claw or bite attacks. Once engaged in combat, this boss finds it difficult to change direction, so being at its rear gives you more space to avoid incoming attacks.
The primary strategy to exploit is its spitting attacks, as it becomes fixed in a prolonged animation, rendering it incapable of striking anything other than what’s directly in front of it. Keep an eye out for the jump attack; when you spot it, focus on dodging during the initial leap, and then aim to dodge underneath it after the second dodge. It will momentarily pause following the landing from the second jump.
On this boss, you won’t encounter lengthy combination attacks, so concentrate on striking it one or two times when you have the chance, and then prepare to unleash an Obliterate attack.
Phase 2
In the second stage, the boss becomes noticeably more aggressive, extending its combo sequences with powerful claw attacks and elongating its spitting attacks. However, it doesn’t introduce any entirely new threats to contend with during this phase. Instead, the intervals for counterattacks are significantly reduced, as the boss initiates additional combos at a faster rate, making it harder to strike back effectively.
Maintain your current approach, and try to attack the boss as often as possible to gradually reduce its health and accumulate Obliterate abilities. With proper execution, you might be able to use two such abilities in a single encounter, though this could vary based on your weapon’s power and overall damage output.
